Topic: Trying again, any advice? Posted: 20 August 2008 at 2:50pm |
Hi, I have just suffered my second mc in 5 months, I got to about 7 weeks with the first and 6 weeks this time round. I have just about finished bleeding but am still getting a few twinges every now and then. Surprisingly I feel ok, not great but ok, better than last time. Keep telling myself that it could be worse. I have not needed D & C with either so thats one positive?! I can take.
I am keen to get trying again but was wondering if anyone had heard of people not being able to hold a certain sex baby? a few people have mentioned it to me and was wondering if anybody else had had better success by changing their baby making times when trying? like holding off till ovulation day for a boy or vis-versa? keen to know if anyone has found anything that works!

I dunno Dotty, but i can remember my Mum saying something similar to me when I first miscarried 9 years ago. Interesting I have since had two boys, and miscarried again beginning July.
I will be interested to know if I will get my girl next time round ;-) Funnily enough it is something that has always stuck in the back of my head!
I wish you well for your recovery, and for your future TTC'ing :-)
xx

Mum my is sure the MC she had was a boy, and I am sure the MC I had was a girl. I think she was meant to have girls and I am meant to have boys.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I think my mc was a girl and I am now carrying another boy, DH said to me maybe I can only carry boys but who knows really. We didn't do anything to try and get a particular sex. All I would suggest really would be to eat healthy and make sure you are emotionally ready, take folic acid etc and just not stress yourself out about it. If the worse does happen again then you will be referred to a specialist, but its not likely and I really hope it doesn't happen.

Hi, already under a specialist, as had endo, not bad, but thought it was wise. Been taking folic acid for about a year now and I don't think I can eat any healthier, don't drink anymore and have never smoked, I walk, run or bike most days. So god knows! maybe I need to start being bad!

hahaha, yeah get drunk and have a one night stand, seems to work for a lot of women
I just suggested the being healthy and stuff cos if nothing else it helps you feel that much better in yourself and also feels like you are doing something.

Thanks, I know what you mean, I have been doing the 'do you really want that baby/bump' look at some people! I bet if I hadn't wanted to be pregnant they would both have stuck like glue! sods law!
......will run the one night stand past hubby, but I doubt he will think it's a goer!

Hi. I also know people who say they can only carry one sex or the other, but don't know of any scientific proof of this (I hope it isn't true). We did time sex to make our first a boy and it worked - although maybe he would have been anyway. So I am suscribing to that theory for now, we have been trying for a girl this time and had 2 mc, but I think it might be luteal phase disorder cos my cycles are really long and ovulating late.

Hi Dotty,
Firstly I am sorry you are going through this.
I have suffered 3 mc's, there is nothing to say that I had a problem.
It has been noted that I will be closely monitored if I am carrying a girl as this maybe my problem.
It is strange, however not that unheard of. I know a couple of good friends that couldn't carry Girls. It is something you should talk to your do about and get some tests done.
I am currently 7 1/2 week pregnant with my 4th Pregnancy, this time everything feels so different.
Don't give up Dotty, good things are just around the corner.

I know of someone who kept m/c boys. I think she might have had RHneg blood but I'm not sure exactly what made it not happen for her. She had 4 girls in the end but it sounded like a few m/c boys from what her daughter told me.

Think saw in another thread that you had some tests done by a specialist, did any useful info come back from those?
