HELP im bleeding

While I didn't bleed that far into the pregnancy, I did bleed similar to what you describe for pretty much the first half of my pregnancy with Josiah. If your midwife is not worried, then there is nothing to be afraid of.

There are a couple of things that could have resulted in a bleed that DO NOT affect Baby at all. One is that the placenta could have shifted at some stage, resulting in a small pool of blood before the uterus closed up that is now leaking out. Another could be a hormone imbalance, which we think was my problem.

Your midwife is there to look after you and your baby. She will not even unintentionally put either of you at risk.

I had mild bleeding with my first pregnancy (which resulted in a now anti-social almost teenager called Sean), however, if you and your husband are concerned DEFINITELY call your midwife and ask her to come and see you - if she doesn't answer her phone, you can't get hold of her or she can't make it; then head along to your local A and E (hospital is cool) and get checked out. Pregnancy can be a scary time, and if you are concerned then there is nothing wrong with heading along to a medical professional and getting checked out - even if it is just for piece of mind. Remember, although you may not be paying $$ directly to the midwife, the government is and you should be absolutely happy with the service. This is the beginning of you fine tuning your maternal instinct - trust it.

Couldnt have said it better myself emeldee. Your midwife definately should have come out to check you, not just advise over the phone.

I had bledding in my first pregnancy..and all was okay.

This time I have had a very heavy bleed (ie dripping down my legs). I was paranoid.... the midwife did not come out and see me but I did keep in touch.

It ended up being a placenta bleed which is common. I had a scan. It is when the placenta pulls slightly away from the uterus so causes a bleed. And is not a huge worry. In saying that I freaked out.

I would say if you are filling more than a pad every 2 hours then go straight to the hospital. Forget the midwife!

I had the same thing at the same stage as you it lasted for a week it was a bit of the show for me. It was just like a period for the first couple of days then just a few spots. My midwife said if its kinda mucusy its ok but if it bleeds lots of blood ring her.

I got excited cos she said it was the show and I thought bubs wud be early but he was born the day before he was due.
