Topic: mouse problem. Posted: 25 July 2010 at 1:33pm |
hi guys i need some help with our mouse problem.
we cant seem to get rid of the little buggers and we are soo sick of them. we use glue traps which work well but we still have the problem and we want them all gone. i did try to bring our mouse expert to our new place but she isnt a fan of the kids, and we are too scared to get a new one as we are on a busy drive way not to mention the vet bills. we have a puppy but she isnt allowed inside and certainly doesnt match the expertise my cat does.
im looking at ultrasound pest control but dont know anyone who has used it before basically just a thing you plug in and repells mice/rats.
does anyone have any advice, we have ransacked our place over and over to find nothing, but we know they are there. there are no holes in the walls for them to go in. we know they come through the garage. and reason they got in, in the first place is becoz our oldest kept leaving doors open at night and just happened to do so when the grass was cut at the old train station which is only 50m away.

A mouse can get in through a hole the size of a pencil. A rat can get in a hole the size of it's head (which is really not actually that big - it's their bodies which are big, and they are flexible). We used poison (in the roof) and traps, and it seems to have worked. We had a MEGA rat problem, and the exterminators would only do what we were doing ourselves.

Yeah poison where the kids & puppies can't get to it. Plastic traps in cupboards & also were kids can't get them.
Don't be nice to them, they just keep coming back.

make a mixture of 60% icing sugar and 40% cement dust, put on a plate somewhere for them to eat, they eat it then go outside to find water and die...... Also you could try the water trap. Have a bucket half full of water with a ramp leading up to the rim. Have a plastic pipe going across the top of the bucket- it needs to be able to turn/roll. Have some peanut butter on the other side. Put a cover around the top of the bucket so they have to go across the pipe..... They try to cross the pipe and it turns and they fall in and drown. My MIL got 85 mice in 2 days this way! She does live in the country tho. Good Luck

We had the same problem here we used those wooden mouse traps with peanut butter or melted cheese managed to eat it then away, so after a few goes we got a plastic one called the intruder from mega mitre 10 and worked really well.

We had horrible mouse problem when B was little, we used the peanut butter on a mouse trap trick too, but not the old flat style ones you usually see, we had a 4-way one where they had to poke their head through a hole to get to the hook coated in peanut butter, the trap would snap their neck, killing them instantly. Dont try and catch them alive cos they'll escape and keep coming back, learnt that the hard way lol!
