Hi there - I'm new to this site and was just wondering if anyone out there has been lucky enough to have had a successful pregnancy through the wonderful gift of an egg from a donor?
I have recently been told by Fertility Associates that my best chances of having a family are through egg donation - which was a bit of a shock at first, but now it has sunk in and is a million times better than being childless.
My DH and I were able to fall pregnant naturally 3 times within 15 months (the last time was Jan 08) - but sadly none of the pregnancies were successful (ending at 15 wks, 13 wks and 5 wks)
I now realise I have left my baby making days too late in life, but there is still hope that our dream can come true through an egg donor.
I've already had 4 generous offers from sister / friends to be my egg donor - but unfortunately they are all in their late 30's or early 40's - so too old to help me (according to FA, they need to be aged 21 - 35).
We'd love to hear any success stories from others who have been in a similar situation

Hi jojo,

My best friend donated eggs to a couple who had a little girl not so long ago, both my best friend and the couple are delighted. She didn't know the couple before hand, but keeps in contact with them now and they send her piccies of their wee girl.

My friend also had trouble conceiving a child (but this was due to circumstances with her husband), and they have a wee girl (aged 2.5) who was conceived via IVF, so she knew what the process of egg donation involved.

The couple she donated too are going to try for no 2 soon with frozen embryos left over after 1st baby, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well for that pregnancy as well.

Good luck on your journey

Thanks for that hailstones - it's great to hear of successful outcomes.
Awesome that your friend who donated her eggs had a good understanding of what the process involved since she had already been through IVF herself.
I hope the 2nd try with the frozen embryos is just as successful as the first one - my fingers (& arms and toes) are crossed that baby no 2 will soon be on the way
Lovely story in the weekend of the baby who was born from the frozen embryo around 16 years after it had been frozen!

Hi jojo777 I did a lot of research into egg donation last year, I was planning on becoming an egg donor myself before we decided to try for another baby. Sadly we lost that baby a wee while back at 13 wks, have decided if we will try again or not. Anyway, There is a great forum for both people looking for donors and potential donors its called aussieeeggdonors.com. They have people from Oz and NZ on there and its a great place to get information and support.
Good Luck for your journey !

Hi ShelliN, thanks for that info. I have just registered for both the NZ surrogacy and the Aussie egg donors sites, so hopefully will get replies from them soon - I had been meaning to join the NZ one for a while, so thanks for mentioning the Ozzie one, it made me join up to both
Really sorry to hear you lost a baby a wee while back, my thoughts are with you & your family.
