I think its a wonderful thing to do, not sure if I could personally do it, having a full genetic kid out there but i wouldnt rule it out once we have started and finished our family.

The thing that i was thinking of while reading what others have said about having contact.... I think it would be a good idea to at least know them. The reason i say this is just incase that rare occasion arises when your son or daughter brings home a new girlfriend/boyfriend.... it would be handy to know that the girlfriend/boyfriend is definately NOT their full biological sibling... i know its rare but it could happen lol

Wow thanks for posting that. I’m not sure whether our ivf will be possible, but even so I have already contemplated embryo donation. Its good info, I didn’t know that you had to make the decision and then wait 2 years before they can be donated.

Itchy feet also raises an interesting point about spare body parts, I wouldn’t have thought of that. Also the destroying of healthy embryos, I hadn’t thought that much through it, just that if someone else is going through what I am going through, then if I can help . . . bring it

Carnelian, I’m pretty sure PGD is not available in this country for gender selection unless there is a sexlinked condition.

OMG Jem, can you imagine that?!! That would be like fraternal twins?? . . can you stipulate that your embryos go somewhere else in the country (not foolproof I know)

I'd feel a bit uncomfy with it, but given that they're already harvested, it almost seems different. I'd be most inclined to donate them to someone I know rather than just to the public in general, but then I'd wonder if I'd be too interferring with how "my embryo children" were raised. Tough one!
