I really hope his name becomes known in prison, even if it can't be known publicly.

Man jailed for sodomising daughter, 2
4:21PM Friday Apr 17, 2009
A Christchurch man who repeatedly sodomised his two-year-old daughter while she struggled and screamed was today jailed for 10 years.
Judge Phillip Moran in the Christchurch District Court ordered that the man serve a minimum non-parole term of six-and-a-half years.
His name cannot be published because it would identify the victim.
Crown prosecutor Dr Heather McKenzie said: "It is difficult to imagine worse offending on such a young child."
The offending came to light after his daughter complained of having a sore bottom and said the father had done it to her.
After being confronted by police he confessed he had abused his daughter on five occasions.
Judge Moran said the man's other child had been left lost and bewildered by the arrest and his wife had felt numb for months.
She was only beginning to get to grips with the reality of what had happened.
The judge said he took into account the defencelessness of the girl, the harm to her and the family, and magnitude of the breach of trust.
Judge Moran said the man had offended at home when the wife was out working, and after he had been viewing internet child abuse pornography.
He had sodomised the girl even though she was distressed and in pain, "crying her frigging head off and screaming" as he later told police.
"If anybody from today ever supposes that possession of child pornography won't lead to actual offending, you are a good example (that it will)," said the judge.
Defence counsel Paul Norcross said regardless of the sentence imposed today, the real hard work for the accused would be when he was released from prison and tried to achieve some degree of normality.

That poor, poor wee girl! And her family..
That is the ultimate betrayal, as a daughter and a wife..
It is so horrible and sad that I almost don't believe it..

Oh f*cken diddums, cry me a river, he should have thought of that on the five separate occasions he did that to his own daughter , HE is going to face hard work ? what about the impact it will have on his child ? the lack of trust she will now have of people, men in general , not to mention the physical scars .
Whatever happens to him in prison , I will have no sympathy from where im standing

OMG this is sooooo sad, He should be shot dead, Why should our tax money support a fu%$^n Ass like this falla, He can never be rehabilitated...
Im assuming he's gonna serve his sentence in Paparoa Prison in the same wing as all the other child abusers, they should stick him in with the general population and see if he likes it being sodomised by the other inmates while he's screamin in pain....People like this dont deserve to live....
Bring back the death Penalty....
Oh and dont worry his name will definatly get out in the prison grapevine....

I just can't imagine how anyone could do anything to hurt their child, let alone see them as a sexual object ..... Has to be seriously f**ked in the head. And yes, he should be in the general prison population. And maybe the defence lawyer should stay a night or two given his comments - I'm with you Kelly. Woe is him.

That poor baby its too mindboggling I cant actually process how someone could do that to their own child!! ETA actually ANY child!!
Bizzy I agree the details are awful and over the top and I'm also horrified at the pathetic sentence handed down!!!!! Isn't there something the public can do to complain?? I'd sign something or write a letter!!

And he did this after watching child porn on the net- yet another news story around the same time shows a man who had thousands of images of child pornography and he got a few measly months home detention? Pathetic- it makes me so mad that these horrific crimes against children are not punished appropriately. Chemical castration or the death penalty would be a proper deterrent! Friggin monsters should not be allowed out in public.

Hope he meets a BIG guy in prison who shows him what it is like & shares him around his mates for years & years .
I feel sick for the poor wee one & for all the children who are born into a life like this, the law needs to change & make the punishment fit the crime, the innocent need protecting not the offenders.

where is the justice? yes it is an interesting question.
think about it. if he were killed: yes he'd be off our streets but they'd be no pain involved for him. jail- it's not pretty. and when the other inmates find out what he did...well he will certainly know how his daughter felt. to me, that is a much better form of punishment.
that poor, poor little girl. I can only hope that, because she is so young, her brain lets her forget some of the pain she went through. she and infact her whole family, must have much healing to do. I hope they are getting enough support.
