So I need a good carseat but not costing to much as we have to buy two! The twins are finally getting to big for their capsules, twins are fun but it does suck sometimes having to buy two of everything.

DH has been looking at carseats online and the ones he is looking at don't rear face at all but they do convert to boosters.

I think rearfacing is definitely something we should try to do at least for a bit longer but the reality is we can only spend $200 - 250 per carseat.

DH is not likely to budge unless I can find one that is not expensive but will last until their primary years as he doesn’t see the point in getting one for now and having to get another one (even if only a booster seat) later on.

Hoping one of you ladies will be able to point me in the right direction.

Thank you

What about hiring a couple of rear facing ones for a wee while from plunket or baby on the move? Then you can buy ones that just forward face when they are a bit older. I'd say theyr'e definitely too young to be forward facing just yet.

melnel thats a good price $169 but out of stock....

They are 9kg now and cosco scenera rearfaces to 16 kg but forward faces to 18kg only.

I was hoping there might be something that would have a bigger weight limit forward facing so last us longer cos I guess that one would last for a couple of years

Probably wanting too much in our price range.

Auntie sarah I could look into plunket I think they to small to be forward facing too, I don't no I just prefer the idea of new (knowing they haven't been in an accident or anything however small)

They are allowed to forward-face from this age, but if you're keen to keep them rear-facing I'd look into Plunket hiring for say 2mos and buy forward-facing then.

Hire the car seats for a couple of months then go for something like a supernanny 3n1 from babies.co.nz we have one for Daniel and it will last him til he no longer needs a booster. They are great carseats for under $140

Kebekat That is the type DH has been looking 9mth to don't need a booster anymore. The ones he saw online were closer to $200 though.

Hadn't seen that site before (have a seriously grumpy wee girl and rocking her to sleep in the pram which I have now perfected doing with my leg to give me computer time) some of the stuff there is pretty well priced supernanny brand has a big range I had never heard of it before.

unfortunately you are unlikely to find a high rearfacing and high ff harnessed carseat for less than $300

cheapest I could find was this
Carseat

Thanks novembermum think thats the one we will go with after all, seems like my going on about RF being safer has finally taken hold and DH looked up that link all by himself and thinks its good.

Hehe when I think about it I don't think there are times where I haven't got my way in the end.

Just have to get my a into g and list some things on trademe to help with the extra cost

Just an update we got the evenflo triump advance lx (see above) carseat for $269 at kiwibaby.com - alot cheaper than winkalotts.

We ordered on Sun one has arrived today (free delivery and we are in the mid of sth island) as long as the second one turns up in a day or so I will be 110% happy with service!

Just updated because I think it is a great price for a RF seat. Think only the radian and brio can beat it but nowhere near the cost.

Hmm now not quite as happy as the instruction manual and the sticker on the carseat say you cannot rear face or use for as long as the kiwibaby website (and all the other sites I did research on) say?

http://kiwibaby.com/shopping/pgm-more_information.php?id=414&=SID

The manual with the seat says you can RF to 30 lbs and use FF to 47 lbs. The websites say you can RF to 35 lbs and FF to 50 lbs.

I am dissapointed. Wondering what to do might put a post in the general topic.
