I have a Milano capsule, it goes up to 13kg (although DD will probably be waaaay to long by that stage). You can buy the base so you can just snap it into the car. I like it cause the baby is sitting more upright than lying down like some others i have seen. My friends one her little girl is in a u shape, my DD would hate that cause she wouldnt be able to see anything. I have no idea about the safety ratings, but it doesnt have fancy extra padding etc...

I had a Milano one too! Although DD outgrew it (too wide) at 6 months (about 8-9kg)... We had the base but tbh I found it a pita so just used it without! No problems! Was sad to stop using it!

We loooove our Graco Logico capsule. Comes with base which makes life so easy - just click in and click out! Super super safe. Very easy to install and use. Goes up to 13kg and/or 81cm so lasts for a long time.
We bought ours as we used it for Jude, will use it for this new baby and are planning on having another baby after this one - so it worked out cheaper in the long run and there were a few things you weren't allowed to do with the capsule if you were renting it - like take it on planes, which we needed to do.
We went and looked at a few in Baby on the Move (highly recommend you go see your local BOTM if you can) and the Graco was the one that felt and looked the safest.

I don't think there's too much in it. We've hired a Graco from Baby on the move too. For next time, I wouldn't stress about it as much!! But, things that I'd go for include getting one with the base, and I've also liked being able to put the capsule onto our P&T buggy.
My DD isn't big - but I do find the Graco really heavy with her in it...

I have a CasualPlay Prima Easy, which I love!! It was a major luxury item for us, and I had actually already bought another convertible carseat -- but DH found it.
What I love about it is that it was 4 recline positions -- and when your baby is newborn (up to 5kg) the baby actually lies flat in the capsule, so I was much less worried about his airway being squashed.
I also love its huge hood which kept the sun off him, and it has this neat UV protector that goes over the whole capsule, so you don't need to worry about putting something in your window and you can still see out all your windows.
It's not cheap though -- and it is REALLY heavy!! So we didn't really use it as a capsule -- we left it in the car and just put DS in and out of it, rather than trying to lift it out. Also, because it lies flat, it's quite long, so my front passenger seat had to be really far forward.

We have a Fisher Price (safe n sound) capsule and base which goes up to 12kg. We've only just moved Jackson to a convertable car seat now and only because he is now too wide for the capsule, otherwise he would have stayed in it longer.
This is the one we have but labelled Fisher Price.
Hmm, what I love:
Goes up to 12kg
Has a good hood for sun protection
Easy to clip in and out of the base
3 point safety harness
Comes with a base and tether strap

I should have said I"m not really wanting to be taking it in and out of the car. It more htat we have a Brio which the new baby would go into once he/she can sit very well but need something in the interum. With my son we used a convertable from the start but it did have him sitting up quiet straight and I have heard it is better for them to be in a more laid back position.
Thanks for all the recomendations so far.

first, we hired the baby capsule by safety 1st laguna
I really liked it, but his head would fall forawrd occasionally when sleeping. Then we used a graco logico (from botm) while waiting for a new model brio to arrive. And Oh My Gosh! It was sooo much nicer. His head never fell forward, it was way more reclined, and was so much comfortable looking.
I will definately be hiring that again for the next baby!

I have a Phil and Teds Bebe and have been happy with it as it is quite light without a baby in it. The only thing I've found was that the seat belts in some cars were only just long enough to fasten it in.. maybe this isn't unique to P&T I'm not sure. Also it says it goes up to 13 kg but there's no way a child of that size would fit in as they are only safe while their head is more than 2.5cm from the top. Check out this website, it gives you lots to think about when choosing a car seat.
