    Posted: 29 April 2009 at 9:46pm
Hi Everyone,

I have recently moved to the North Shore and and 18 weeks pregnant. I would like to know if anyone can recommend a good doctor?(preferably a women doctor) I would also be recommendations for optometrists, hair dressers, dentists etc...or if you would just be interested in meeting up for coffee?

Hi Amy - just a heads up - we dont normally post of personal email addresses in the open forums - (keeps everyone protected) - we do use the Private Msg functions on the here though!

I dont know where abouts on the shore you are located - but there are lots of mummies on here that are based on the shore, so am sure someone will be able to help!

Welcome to OB!

Hi Amy, my folks are on the Shore and I used to be, and I was really sad to move away from my GP. Her name is Tsui-Wen Chen (pronounced chay-wen) and she's at the Kowhai Clinic in Glenfield. Don't be deceived by the name, she's second generation kiwi I think, anyway English is her first language. She is absolutely lovely and the best GP ever, I thoroughly recommend looking her up.

Sorry can't really help with the rest!

Dr Margaret (Margie) Bryant of Byron Medical Chambers in Byron Ave, Takapuna. I think she's also done obstetric training. If she's not available, then there's usually another female doctor who is, and while not quite as good, I'd recommend definitely.
Haydon Optometrists is fantastic, although at the pricier end of the scale compared to more chain-store type.

we go to the glenfield medical centre and seen several docters from there and found them all to be particularly good- and really good with dealing with Ella. I think there may be several of us on here that go to this centre...

Milford Family Medical centre is good too. There are a couple of female doctors - Eva and Yvonne (and possibly another one). I've seen both and recommend them

Also if you want to you can 'edit' your original post and remove your email address

What suburb have you moved to? I can also recommend the female doctors at Glenfield Medical centre. Infact, I think Mum2ella got me onto them!
