Topic: Two go go bags for $200? Posted: 30 October 2007 at 10:03am |
The sleep store is running a promotion for two merino kids go go bags for $199. Do you think it's worth it? I've just seen that one bag (on a different website) is $179 so it seems like a good deal. But are they really all they're cracked up to be? I don't want to fork out $200 for something I'll hardly ever use
Trouble is, Alex is still in his bassinet (not for much longer though) so I don't know whether he'll be a blanket-kicker-offer in his cot or not.

OMG they cost how much. Are they lined with gold?
We have 2 slumbersacs for Spencer, I think they are very good quality, one is a standard one and the other is a travel one. They cost $45 at the Parent and child show in Christchurch but I think they are normally only $50-55 anyway. This is their website

When you are looking at sleeping bags remember that the gogo bags are from newborn till 2 years. A lot of bags are just for a 6month period so you would need four to cover the same period of time as the gogo bag. I bought them as i think that they are good quality and as i said will last longer, expensive initial outlay but i've heard good reviews.

We love our gogo bag & that's a great price for 2 of them! The resale value on trade me is pretty good too, so you could always sell them if you found you didn't use them. I like the merino go go bags because they are all natural fibres - wasn't keen on polyester filed bags. They are quite generous sizes too - 1 bag lasting until they 2 years old.

I didn't realise they last till age 2, that makes quite a bit of difference. Sounds like a good price if they last that long, especially if their resale is high as well

Thats a great deal! The cheapest I have seen them on their own new is about $110 for a lightweight one so if you're keen I would go for it. We have the winter weight one for Kate- I really like it. Its nice because you can use it with the Dr Sprotts system because its made from cotton and wool only.
Both my girls were/are blanket kickers. Kate has been kicking hers off since about 2 months so if he isn't showing signs of doing it yet you may not need them. Maybe try a cheap one and see how that goes? It is alot of money to pay if you aren't going to use them. In saying that they resell for a pretty decent price on Trademe anyway or you can just put him in them even if he doesn't really need them.

Hi
I bought the 2 for 200 deal, and figured I could sell one on TM if we didn't use it, and we wouldn't need to buy cot blankets, so would save $$ there.
I also thought the winter weight one might be good for using in the pram during winter.
Gogo bags seem to be the only sleeping bags that do until 2 years, so might actually work out cheaper than needing to buy a second or third bag. In saying that there are some new marino bags for sale on TM for $50 that look quite good.
gogo bags seem to wash well.

I would definitely get the deal. We bought one when Charlotte was 7 months old and we have just stopped using it as she has moved into a big bed at 19 months but she could still fit in it no worries. They are brilliant I wish we had had it right from the start! That is a pretty awesome deal too. And yea they are great for the buggy and carseat too. I can't rave about them enough!!

We have two over here too, one winter and one summer. Possibly one of our best buys!
The price made my eyeballs pop right out of my head but after using them for several months I would absolutely say go for it!
They are gorgeous to feel and do wash really well.

So those that do have a go go bag - what does your baby wear under it, both summer and winter? At the moment Alex sleeps in a Bonds Wondersuit with two cotton blankets (one folded in half, so really three blankets effectively) over him - would I keep him in the wondersuit, go go bag and one blanket?
I guess it depends on the baby and the weather too, huh.

I don't know about the go go bags but the slumbersac came with a room thermometer and chart telling you what they need to wear at what temp. I expect the go go people probably have something similar.

It really is a good buy - one winter weight for temps below 18degrees (we're using this one at night at the mo) and a summer one for temps above 18.
When we first started using it we used it with blankets as well (Kaleb would kick his legs in the air) but the last 3 days we haven't and he's still settled reasonably quickly. Under the winter one he wears a woollen singlet, cotton pjs and socks then he wears mittens on his hands. At the moment he's asleep in a cotton vest/singlet and a cotton bodysuit (short sleeved) with the bag on.
I have found they are excellent for sleeping in when not at home - very easy to transfer baby to carseat then to cot when you get home
I initially didn't really like the idea of it and only started using it because it was a rather expensive gift but we liked it so much we went and bought the show special.
Sorry for the novel but HTH
Oh and FYI the special is running on the sleepstore website til SUnday.

Funnily enough I was thinking about getting the gremlins summer weight GoGo bags for summer (they have winter weight Grobags) but when I emailed Louise at the Sleep Store she told me NOT to spend so much money on the GoGobags, that the Living Textiles ones they sell are just as good and 100% cotton so still all natural fibres. And only $50 each.
