for the last year or so, every now and then i wake in with really bad pain in my ear. i think it happens in either but for the last couple of nights it has been my left. it is that really awful stabbing sharp pain you get with an ear infeection but it only occurs at night time when im sleeping. it wakes me up and i find if i lie on the side that hurts it generally goes away although when it woke me up for the third time 2night it was unbearable and didnt fade off until i got out of bed and i can still feel it quite abit now im up, but not as bad. i dont see how it can be an ear infection when it only happeens when im sleeping on some nights and tends to go away again. ive had my ear checked and they arent waxey r blocked or anything. any ideas? i lose enough sleep being pregnant without this keeping me up too. lol

The sinus, ear and throat are all connected. Seeing as it occurs when you are lying down I would assume that it is cause my pressure building up. It maybe something to do with your sinus or it might be because of all the extra blood you make when pregnant. All sorts of funny things can happen with that extra blood, with Dominic I used to get blood noses all the time.
Still it is painful and a worry so I would go back to the doctor and get them to do a proper check of your ears, nose, sinus and throat. If they can't find anything you could ask to be referred to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist.
Hope you are better soon .
Congratulations and best wishes for your birth! Not long to go now
