thanks weegee, so it looks like the only real benefit of the patapum over the ergo is that it folds into itself huh.... oh & the price

I haven't tried the patapum, but, I know lots of people like the longer body on the patapum. The fact that there's no padding means it'd be cooler in summer I think but it doesn't look nearly as comfy as the ergo. For the record the ergo folds up pretty small too.

The Manduca doesn't have any padding in the body either, it's not an issue for bubba as long as the fabric is nice and soft (which it is). Makes it lighter too.

Can you get to a slingbabies meeting, they have a patapum and an ergo so you could try "before you buy"

I thought the Patapum looked quite sporty, but the belt part around your waist was more comfy on an Ergo (for me personally that is).

The ergo also has a pocket on the front, which is handy for your keys and an eftpos card.

so hubby says that the patapum is only for up to 2yrs??? wat??!!??

ETA: so the website says that for the baby patapum it's not suitable for over 24mths & the toddler one isn't suitable for under 18mth. so i guess we shall look further into the ergo.... if i can convince him to get it over the p&t

that's what i would have thought but on their main page when you look at the product it says suitable for 5-24mths. yet no where else i had looked said that. it was on the actual patapum website. Patapum

My research shows that its suggested upper weight limit is 20 kgs and the safety tested limit is 28kgs.

(Google is amazing - just type in weight limit for patapum and you will find the links to the websites - there were numerous listing weight limits)

Hey -- when I was looking into baby carriers I read loads of product reviews on www.amazon.com. The Ergo had LOADS of positive reviews for bigger kids. I'm not sure if you can find all the brands you're thinking of there (it's a US-based site), but you can at least do some research and read some reviews of different carriers if you're interested.
