We're thinking about getting a ride on toy for Daniel for his birthday. Has anyone had any that they or ? I was wondering about the Fisher Price (or Playskool??) ride on that transforms to a scooter.

We have the one that turns into a scooter....Leah loves it, she used it when she was learning to walk instead of a walker, then as a ride on and now she has a thing about skateboards so pretends its a skateboard and we have to push her around. One good thing is thats its not to wide so their legs don't have to stretch to far apart to use it compared to other ride ons. Joel is now pushing it around as a walker as well (when she let him near it)......its used everyday and we have had it over 2 years and it hardly looks used. Best thing we have bought I think.

My parents bought Jack a Tri-ang Yamaha Trike for his first xmas (he was 8mths) and he still loves it 18mths later. It is simply a trike, it doesn't convert to anything but it is still brilliant. I am sure that it is going to last him a very long time

We have this one:

(awwww look, tiny 'Cedes )

And one the same as Weegee had at the party the other day - the three wheel red and yellow TriAng one, except ours is pink and white.

Both have definitely had their money's worth of use, the TriAng one especially as it was only $30 and we got it when Maya was 15mths and it's now had all 4 kids on it at one stage or another.

The FP one was more expensive, maybe $80 on special? I can't remember. But you put batteries in it and it plays music, makes horn noises etc. They all love it, even Maya.

Definately the plain old tri-ang. Ashleigh got it for Xmas when she was 18 months and still rides it everyday even though she has a big bike with training wheels. I think it is by far the best and easiest ride on for them to use if you are simply wanting it for them to ride. There are the other flasher ones that convert so depends if you want something like that? Ash also got one of these which was great for her learning to walk but not so great to ride.

Mm, might go with the Triang then - DH was leaning toward it and then just buying a scooter when he's ready for that. He's already walking so doesn't need a walky/pushy thing (actually, my walls don't need it!).

We have a Playskool one that is both a pushy thing and a ride-on. Jack actually loves pushing it around more now that he's running than when he was learning to walk as he uses it to chase the animals etc That was about $80 but was half price when we bought it.

Also, we just have a plain old ride on car that my boy honestly does not get off! I put him on it straight out of his cot in the morning (otherwise he wants me to pick him up and I can't) and he zooms around on it all day tooting his horn and ringing his dada or poppa on the attached phone Uber cute!

We have the triang trike too, and Oli loves it. It took him a while to get the hang of it, but he speeds up and down our wooden floors on it now!

We also bought him this for his 1st bday, http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-C5843-Gobble-Go-Hippo/dp/B0001J2NKK and he has never liked it as a ride on, only a walker.
