Argh Kidzone. TBH, i find the presenter more irritating than anything else! Thomas didnt really pay much attention to Babar when it came on - he's obsessed with Captain Mack anyway LOL. Oh how I hate that channel hehe.. Thomas however is learning a LOT.. his favorite thing now when he sees anything yellow, is to yell: 'Kowhai Yellow!'

Quite reminiscent of Bambi actually... |
Snap I was thinking the same thing. However I think it was only my Mum who cried in Bambi, I was too busy engrossed in Thumper and baby Bambi to thinkk about Bambi's Mum.

hunters.... elephants... its a fact of life.... sadly it happens
if your child is displaying anxieties over the show then just change the channel ?! and talk about whats happened with your child
the same can be said about pocohontas.. a man steals and rapes the village girl..... snow white... attempted murder.. the list goes on....
I agree with the thought that i think most of it goes over kids heads... and for those that are REALLY worried... there is the 'pollitically correct kids story books'
'stepping off my soap box now'

And me onto mine
All very true and fair points but if you spend any amount of time watching kidzone, (and before people get at me for the telly babysitting, when learning to feed a nb and entertain an under 2 @ the same time, it's a godsend) you'll notice the shows all have a certain flavour. It's a channel people trust to have sharp entertaining engaging educational (for the most part....Captian Mac anyone? ), programes that are suitable for preschoolers.
Babar had guns, old school animation, and went on far too long. It just didn't fit the flavour of the channel, and thats what suprised so many people.

Oh well I love Babar and I am thrilled its on! The animation evolves later on too... but I dont really see a problem with old school animation anyway! Berenstein Bears is old school animation so its really just replaced on for the other... (though they didnt have any guns that I recall).
Kane drives me nuts, but I do like that its bilingual.. not sure if Jake is picking up any maori yet but I sure am

Caden watched Babar today and his little face lit up, as he LOVES Elephants!
ETA- I totally agree with bun in the oven. Also same could be said for nursery rhymes! Some of them are so morbid!
Ring around the rosie, that was about the plague, rockaby baby, the baby falls out of the cradle! Jack and Jill, well he bashes his head!
I could go on and on lol

That made me LOL
When it first came on I was all nostalgic. The music brought back memories, especially.
I did cringe this morning when there was a monster who caught someone.
"What if he can't call for help? The monster might have eaten his mouth off!"
Didn't bother Hannah.
But she wasn't paying much attention.
She's a Captain Mack lover, too.
"I have to go, my monkey needs me!"

Has anyone noticed the innuendo's in captain Mack?
"Captain mack would you like a treat?"
"Captain Mack would you like to score?"
"I'd love to Yolanda/Daisy, but my monkey needs me"
Keeps me entertained

Yeaaay yaaah!
Love Captain Mac though! I think I usually end up watching it on my own while the girls shower
Definitely not a fan of Babar!
They seem to change there shows quite often and there is always some I love and some I hate.
I miss Berenstein Bears and Angelina Balerina, and Role Play and Zoo World.. ahhh I need a life
