Topic: DHs friend giving me grief! Posted: 01 April 2009 at 10:00am |
Grrr...
DHs best friend has been rather mean to me lately. Hes always been cheeky to me, and I give it back of course. But lately its got worse and now its really bugging me. He has been saying some mean things (Gosh I thought I was out of the loop once I left primary school) Little things like making fun of my feet, or my socks, or my face! I just laugh and give it back.
He was here a week or two ago, and seriously, every 5 mins he was having a go at me. He would then say something incredibly nice, like how nice my hair looked? I just find it really hard to know where I stand with him. Hes Jacksons godfather so he is around alot. Grr...
So what are some ways I can deal with it? I dont want to be a sooky and just ignore him. Anyone a psychologist here?

He must notice hes going overboard if he does tell you hair is nice as well... then once you relax, bang, with the insults again
guys don't take subtle hints haha
Maybe ask your hubby to have a word to him? or give him Mr Jacksons nappy to change each time he comes over

You need to perfect "the look" ... Im sure Kelly will post you a photo so that you can practice in the mirror.
Once you have it down pat .. you should be able to flash "the look" and the unsuspecting victim who will then fall down to his knees in fear of thee.

Me too!!!!! But seriously some guys relate to other guys by insulting them. My DH had a friend who was over familiar with me and I could not stand him but that was the only way he knew how to relate to people.....Well the only way he related to women was to have sex with them and the rest were guys.
Do you want it to be cutting or do you want to keep it light.
I would expect a comment like that from you.
Ooooh you!!!!
Oooh look at you.....Ooh I wouldn't want to....lol
Just let me get this clear.....You are single right???!!!
And that would be why you are single.
Keep talking like thant and you just might make a girl think you like her ;o)
Ooooh I'm telling DH you said that!!!
These are all things DH and I say to each other.....We are increadibly immature lol

He and DH give each other grief as well, so maybe like you said McPloppy, thats how he relates to people? I understand it when hes here at our place, but then Im not sure about commenting on my FB page and things... its like he is going out of his way, or he just cant resist having a go at me.
Yeah well if I looked like Heidi Klum then perhaps I may believe he fancies me I would think it would be highly unlikely.

Can you deny him acess to your FB page....and when he asks tell him why or would that be being more serious than you want to be.
Or perhaps metion you do not mind the odd jibe in good humour but sometimes he takes it too far and that FB is off limits.
It is difficult i know, when i had issues with DH's friend i ended up telling DH how I felt and started avoiding places that he went to and ended up not likeing him at all and that put DH in a difficult position. But it sounds as though you actually like this person since he is your childs godfather so you might have to say something sooner rather than later to keep the friendship. :o)
LOL that was my serious grown up response.
