I'm on the dreaded count down now until I return to work! Bubs with almost be 6 months old I'm so not looking forward to going back but unfortunately the mortage is saying I have to. What ifI really am a mess I'm already dreading it and have tears and I feel really sick in my tummy! How did you do it?

I psyched myself up and told myself it would be good for my baby to learn that there's lots of other adults he could trust And I had plenty of tears in the weeks/days leading up to it. Don't hold them back cos it's good to get them out.
Also I have a little routine for saying bye, I make sure I'm happy (acting happy even if I'm not, cos babies/kids sense it) and just say bye bye, have a great day with granny/daddy/aunty, give him a kiss and say I love you with a big smile. And then I make them come outside to 'wave' bye bye lol. It's cool when they actually start waving and are happy.
Will bubs be going onto daycare, or other care?
You can do it! It will be tough at first, but as the days go by it will get easier. And it makes the time you have at home with bubs SO much more precious and real "quality time" rather than getting stuck into the mundaneness (i don't even think that's a word) of it all.

i'm in my fourth week at work now (mon-thurs) again stupid mortgage has made me . .. (if we could break our fixed term and get 6 per cent interest i wouldn't have to!)
My DD has been looked after by my parents up to now but on Monday she starts at Day care.
It has got easier leaving her, and we have a lovely quality time of cuddles in the evenings. My Fridays with her are just lovely and we have all weekend. Totally second what Arohanui says above about the time being precious.
I reckon that she will have more fun at day are with all the activites and other children than she will on her own with me as well ( )
Good luck - and it does not make you any worse a parent to be going to work

My DS started full time daycare at the start of the school year and it was heart breaking.
As Liz, said above, do cry and let it out! i cried and talked to DH about it etc.
I must say that once I am at work I enjoy it...well, most days and on the days that DS is a nightmare I LOVE daycare.
It does get easier leaving them but I do recommend that you take your make up in the cry with you as I cried every morning for the first week! Would ring DH on the way to work sobbing, he couldn't understand a word I was saying!

I started with just 30 hours a week and a half-hour lunch break so I could be home asap. Otherwise I checked my cell phone every single break and wished for any kind of news! (but then I would be home-sick, so it sure is tough in the first couple of weeks).

Am going to a half hour lunch break so I can get away 1/2 an hr earlier (I wasn't the most popular I don't think for that - but oh well), wishing I could just go PT maybe I will look out for something else. I just can't imagine the whole day without her.

I was lucky when I went back part time it was in the weekends & shift work so DH looked after him. But I still had the anxiety attacks.
They is now something out there for working parents that you maybe able to glide time at work (depending on your work) to help out with kids, I can not remember too much about it but remember reading it in the union newsletter at work, so you maybe able to change hours a bit if you feel the need. Otherwise it comes down to quality time when you are together & don't bet yourself up over it, unfortunately this is often a fact of life.

It is the Flexible Working Act - I'm too scared to push it too much in this climate. My job is pretty full on with tight deadlines so I'm picking I won't be able to alter it much more than the half hour I have already gotten. Maybe I'll have another bubs soon and then quit, hehehe.
