i was wondering if anyone has any ideas for finger food i can give my 7 month old. Im terrified of giving him non pureed food in case he choaks, but i know i need to. Any suggestions would be awesome!

They all gag a bit to begin with..
But if your afraid of choking when starting out choose foods that really break up easily with their saliva.. rice wafers are really good for that.. my boys demolish muffins. Banana is nice n soft.

Be warned banana stains clothes black.
Seth loves banana but i only give it to him when he's naked our just in a nappy!
Soft pears are great and avocado.

We used bibs with sleeves when Alex was little to avoid getting anything smushed into his clothing

We used banana, kumara roasted as chips. Pretty much need to be size of index finger. If you are really unsure then read the BLW book... Only way I can see them choking is if you are trying to feed them the finger foods... They only bite off what they can manage.

DD loves toast, sandwiches, banana, avacado, cruskets, soft well cooked pasta, cheese (I grate it for her), well steamed brocolli and cauliflower. She prefers finger food over pureed food that I spoon feed her now...  my baby is growing up!!

I used to give cheese as a lung rectangular chunk, she'd just suck on it for ages!

Thank you so much for the suggestions, it has given me some great ideas and a place to start. With the cruskets, do you gave them a whole one, or break it so its smaller? And with the toast and sandwhiches do you put spreads on them (sorry if these are silly questions)

I give the crusket whole or break it down the middle in half long ways, as she sucks it just sort of dissolves it. I put marmite on her toast and sandwiches, I know I tried peanut butter on them with DS aswell but not sure how old he was so waiting for a bit longer before I try it with her. No honey until they are over 1 though. Glad you've got some more ideas, good luck and i'm sure he'll enjoy trying it all out

Agree with the others. Cruskits (split in half or quarters) with a bit of vegemite, rice crackers, toast fingers, grated cheese, steamed fingers of veggies eg courgettes, carrots, kumara etc. Peas are great fun to watch them pick up with their little hands, and great for developing the pincer grip. grapes cut in half are good too.
If you want meat, then make little meatballs from mince, or you can buy Aria Farm meat strips in the freezer at the supermarket (where the frozen beef patties are). These are pure meat that has been formed into strips so they are nice and soft. They come in beef, lamb or chicken I think.
Oh and pasta, my kids would fade away without pasta!
