For the last month or so Oliver keeps pulling my hair and it sometimes REALLY hurts! Even if it didn't I know it is not acceptable but the fact that it does is really no fun for me!
It started off just that he liked touching it because it was soft but now it is deliberate pulling. I have tried saying "No, we don't pull hair" really firmly and putting him down on the ground. Then he just screams really loudly. Even my firmest "No" doesn't seem to bother him. (although if my husband says it his lip goes down and he moves away)
I know that sometimes he does it when he wants attention - when I get home from work and am maybe talking to the nanny for a bit. I have been really making sure I make a fuss of him and give him a big cuddle and sit down with what he is playing with. I do have to talk to the nanny as well though for five minutes as that is how I find out how the morning has gone etc. Once she goes I am all his for the rest of the day.
He does it at other times too though so it is not just then.
I read Fiona's post on time out and was wondering if I should try that. I had thought he would be too young - 16 months? It is obviously working for you though Andie so maybe it is worth a go?
When some of you talked about holding them, do you just sit in the corner for the one minute holding them really firmly?
Thanks heaps for any suggestions. Any help or ideas are very much appreciated before I end up bald!!!!

sorry no advice, but I know how much it can hurt. Ella loves pulling my hair and she is a really strong little girl. For her it is more of a comfort thing as she tends to pull it more when she tired or hungry or really clingy...she pulls my hair and then puts in her mouth and start sucking her thumb (so not only does it hurt and my hair gets messed up, it all gets all wet).  Other times she just  does it, because she gets a reaction from me and thinks it is funny . I was hoping she might grow of it.......

Hmmm... well I wouldn't say it's quite working in our house yet!!  I'm still trying to teach Ella how the naughty corner works - a couple of times she's seemed to respond, last 2 times it did nothing.  I guess any kind of age-appropriate 'time out' is worth a shot though - If Ollie gets upset when you put him down after telling him a bit 'no', does that mean it's already working?  'cause it sounds like what you're doing already is right on the button - not nice hearing him have a scream, but at least him getting upset shows you that it's an effective discipline tool, IYKWIM.  And if he's left to sit there by himself and have a cry for a minute before he gets a cuddle and is shown how to be gentle with your hair, maybe it'll eventually get through to him?  Then again, I'm sure no expert!  I'm just feeling my way here too.
