   As above :)
Qualified PT, worked until 32wks, exercised the whole way through, and Hollie was 7lb7oz and a half (lol).

I would ask her to justify that. Just so you know she's getting her info from somewhere?.

Never heard of exercise + small baby. Sounds like bunk to me. Genetics, body shape and nutrients guide babies development not exercise! I walked everywhere and worked on the farm right through my pregnancy and threw up the entire 9 months and Jake was 9"6 and healthy as.

Sounds like bunk to me also to be honest. If you are doing the same amount of exercise now as you were before pregnancy and not over exerting yourself etc etc, then really there is no issues. Not to mention exercise is going to help you in labour.

Pffft...I'd keep exercising...will help you no end during labour. I kept fit & both my babies were 6lber's & I had fully natural births.
Each baby/woman/pregnancy/labour is completely different so what will be for one will not be for another....

But being fit will help your stamina during birth & will help you bounce back as well.

I have just read something about that in the North and South, although they meant it in a positive way. Large baby= greater risk of obesity, diabetes etc. Smaller baby=reduced risk, therefore it is a good idea to exercise during pregnancy.
I would ask her to explain what she meant though!

Hmmm, interesting!! Thanks for your feedback ladies.
Yeah I'm just going to carry on, I don't think I over exert myself and if I feel too tired I do have the day off. May rearrange it slightly once daylight savings starts as the 5.20am exercise starts might become too much for me.

Another question - situps/crunchies - I'm still doing them but am paying close attention to my body, ie for pains, shortness of breath etc. Did anyone else continue with light situps etc through their pregnancy (until you got too big that is!!)?

From what I understand it is best to avoid stomach exercises, I didn't carry on with those...I'm not sure about light sit ups though, I have heard of people doing it...I'd say ask your midwife but well..... |

Hee hee Paws, yes I did which is why I'm asking on here too!!! Midwife seemed to think it would be fine provided I felt ok which is different to what I've read on the fountain of all knowledge - google. Thought I'd see if I'm the only naughty one still doing them |

I think your body will let you know when its time to modify your exercise. Personally I wouldn't be doing crunches purely because that area is going to expand anyway and if you have muscles there they aren't going to go away if you are fit and healthy I had read that if you have really well developed stomach muscles they can be damaged by stretching during pregnancy. But I have no medical evidence to back that up so its probably another myth! Sizewise, I had a very experienced mw tell me that my baby would be at least 8lb (she measured and felt my belly) and then Lily was 7lb4oz. Just listen to your body.
