Just wondering if there is anything other than needing to go to the toilet that may cause a sore tummy in young kids. Gabriel (turning 4 in nov) says a couple of times a week he has a sore tummy. today he did it again but he was very tired after waking up at 6.30am, and when i asked him to show me where he pointed more to his chest...

i dont want to take him to the docs if they cant do anything except tests if they would just be distressing and with no point.

i was of the opinion that it was sort of an excuse, that he was feeling out of sorts and sore tummy covered how he was feeling...

thoughts anyone?

Ella often says she has a sore tummy, so often that unless she has other symptoms or is upset by it, I don't take her seriously. Mean eh?

Other than sending her to the toilet...

I tell her to have a drink and see if she's hungry. Often my tummy gets a bit sore if I haven't eaten in a while.

Give her a bit of a cuddle and some attention in case she's feeling out of sorts or upset and attention seeking.

Can't think of anything else, but I'm glad to hear of other kids doing it. I sometimes wonder if its something I should be worrying about.

I also ask if my son (nearly 3) needs a drink. It could be something in his diet making him get a sore tummy?

My son has a heart murmor tho that they only found a month or 2 ago.... Im wondering if this is what my son is on about. He gets a sore "tummy" when he is tired or has been running around. (Im not saying that would be what your son is indicating tho!)

Maybe it would pay to mention his tummy to you GP next time around?
