Have you looked into/tried Vitex?? You can find it at health food shops, I think from memory the tincture is faster acting than the pills? (Tastes gross though!)

Vitex is a very useful herb for PMS symptoms, as well as for moms who are breastfeeding and are desiring to conceive again, and are having problems with their cycles returning or becoming regular enough to sustain a pregnancy.
Vitex works by stimulating the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and suppressing the production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). This in turn causes the corpus luteum to secrete more progesterone. Progesterone suppresses the production of prolaction. Also, vitex has components that bind to the dopamine receptor sites of the pituitary, inhibiting prolactin secretion. |

So wouldnt that reduce your supply quite a bit?

As far as Im aware your supply will only decrease if you have an oversupply as it helps balance our your hormone levels.
Prolactin levels are not dependent upon the rate of milk formation or milk yield after lactation is established. from here

from that vitex link ....
Studies also indicate Vitex may be useful to stimulating both production and secretion of breast milk.
so completely the opposite of what I thought!!
then there is a warning that its not indicated during lactation
SOunds like a trip to the health shop is in order!!

Hey Emmi, I posted in my thread on my DDs milk intake as well but thought Id pop it in here too.
I went to the health shop today to get some Vitex (and chat about it as well) and she recommended that I shouldnt take it while breastfeeding (as it may affect my supply, which is already low), and suggested if we are activly ttc, I shouldnt be taking it either as its not to be taken while pregnant, especially early pregnancy.
So Ive decided to not bother and if I dont get UTD in a set timeframe, Ill look at weaning K (and hope that helps AF return...)

I'm wanting to start TTC again in about aug- sep, but as yet no AF. I was on BCP but accidentally left it in oz in Jan and haven't replaced it ( no I'm not UTD I have checked haha). For those of you who have bubs about 10-11 months how many feeds are you still doing a day?

K is 11mths and when I got pregnant she was feeding 3-4 times a day and sleeping 12 hours straight at night, at 11 mths shes feeding 1-2 times a day, mainly just a big morning feed and every few days an afternoon/evening feed.

A positive OPK doesnt' always mean you're oving, millysmum - I used to get lots of false positives which is why I gave up on them (I have PCOS, I've heard of others with PCOS having similar problems. I think it's a hormone thing, perhaps breastfeeding has the same effect?).
It's not something I've researched, but I'd be a little bit surprised if I was oving and not getting AF, except for that one first cycle when you'll ovulate, then get AF a couple of weeks later (if you don't get UTD that round!!)
I got AF back at six months - basically when DS started eating a good amount of solids. I would have said his milk consumption hadn't changed at all, but something must have been enough to trigger it.

Sigh - still no sign of AF here, and miss jo only feeds 3 times a day. A big one morning and night, and a little one in the avo, thinking about dropping the afternoon one soon though.
Re vitex - I emailed the company that makes it, and they said absolutely NOT for breastfeeding mothers, particularly if you are TTC as it is not good at all in early pregnancy. So will just have to wait and have fingers crossed!
I agree about the OPK's, if you are producing hormones to continue making milk they can mess with them. Not much use really!
