Topic: False positive - evaporation line Posted: 04 March 2011 at 6:39pm |
I have 3 days before AF is due.
Today I had a really bad headache and felt nauseaous. The last time I was pregnant (I MC'd after 7 weeks) and I can't remember with DS but think I had the same headache thing going on, so it has made me curious.
Anyway, couldn't wait until the weekend, so I just used a POA test.
There is the faintest faintest positive line.....BUT when I read online it said that it could be an evaporation line.
I will buy another test tomorrow but just wanted to know if anyone has had an evaporation line show up before but they weren't actually pregnant??
(edited to make more sense)

Is it pink? Cause if it is chances are you are pregnant, if its greyish then that is more likely an evap line. I know mine showed up outside the timeline and was originally faint but got quite pink over 20 mins, and I'm still pregnant at 15 weeks :D

I checked mine well after time you were supposed to and faint line they came through clearer as the days went on. A line is a line really unless its a faulty test.
Good luck!

Im guessing you have already retested but I just wanted to share my experience and this may have just been my particular test but I had an evap line that really looked like a BFP (was light but DH agreed it was there) on crystal clear, I googled and they said it was common, never buying that brand again.
Really hope yours is a real BFP though!!

Sorry to be a killjoy, but a line is NOT always a line. Yes, if it came up in the time frame, but not necessarily outside it. I remember reading an awesome website about preg tests from a self-confessed poas-aholic. She made it really clear that evaps DO happen, and a line that only comes up outside the time frame is still a neg (but could be too early to test, so you could still get a pos later).
Whew, that was longwinded, but hope you get my message. I think its worse when you convince yourself that this month is your month and then af arrives. I'm not into pg tests until after af is late, but I am quite good at over-analysing any possible symptom (to the point that when there is no symptom whatsoever, I think up all those people who say they had no symptoms but were still pg!). I have finally come to the conclusion that preg leads to symptoms, not symptoms lead to preg. Or in the case of tests, preg means a pos test, not a pos test leads to preg. And when I accepted this, I stopped thinking about it so much because I couldn't make it happen by imagining all the symptoms.
Umm, I don't blame you if you don't understand what I'm getting at . I really hope that your line is because your preg!!!

Hi ladies, well, an update, it was a line (3 different brands and tested after af due) but is not a line anymore
I have seen my dr and am now getting some tests done to see why this wee one didn't stick either. Just glad it was all over with earlier rather than later.
Next time - will not test early and not get my hopes up..
