Topic: How do I stop myself going mad? Posted: 11 November 2007 at 1:48pm |
I was OK when the gremlins were in hospital coz I didn't have time to think too much, but now that we are home I am going mad! Have had one Beta done at 15dpo and it came back at 137 which is perfectly normal/average for that dpo, but haven't had the second one done coz we were in hospital.
Now I'm thinking do I get the second one done or not? Will I go mad not knowing, or even madder if I do know overanalysing the numbers etc.? In a moment of bravery I booked my scan for the 21 Nov (10 days away) I could have it either this Friday, or the following Mon but decided to wait the extra couple of days to give them a better chance of seeing the heartbeat.
I had some 'spotting' kind of yesterday, actually it was more like a tiny speck of brown tinged CM, but it was enough to make me stress out. Nothing since except heaps of clear CM which is a bit reassuring, but I am still panicking.
So do I do the second hCG tomorrow? If I do it in the morning I will have the results by the afternoon. If the results are good, I might stop worrying until the scan in a week and a bit. If they're borderline or not so good, I'll be even more of a wreck.
Help! This all feels so stupid! After all, whats 10 days in the grand scheme of things?

Hugs. Do what you need to do to get some peace of mind. The first 12 weeks are scary so it's important to keep your anxiety as low as possible so do what you feel you need to do.
I'd say that spotting was a good sign e.g. implantation.
Testing for the hormone is not routine at stage of pregnancy so I'd be inclined to leave it and try to focus on being as calm as possible (easier said than done I know!!) but it is your call.
Hugs to you...hope you can relax a little soon.

I have never been in this situation, but if you are like me and just like to know what is going on either way, I would do the bloods tomorrow morning. I would rather have an idea of what is going on than toture myself with it for 10 days.
But thats just me. Big hugs that everything is ok and you stop stressing

Hugs Emma if I was in the same position I would get the bloods done tomorrow wouldn't be able to wait the 10days I would stress out to much.
But I'm sure you will make the right decision for you.

It must be scary - I know I would be feeling exactly the same. Do whatever is best for you. I'd probably do the bloods rather than worrying and 'waiting'.
Can you try and plan some nice catch ups with people this week so that your mind has less time to think?
Hugs.

hey emma,
I would take the bloods, or else i would just worry the for the next 10 days, if its going to help put your mind at ease then do the bloods as you dont really want to be stressing at this time :O)

OK so I caved and did the bloods this morning, the results should be back later this afternoon. I am so, so nervous! Jax popped in for a visit this morning which kept me occupied for a while and I now have a heap of work to do.
Fingers crossed for nice high results! At the moment I'm finding it hard to actually think of myself as 'pregnant' and to think about practical stuff like where the baby is going to sleep etc. Hopefully if the hCG results come back OK it might seem a bit more real. Of course if they don't come back ok I don't know what I'll do!

Oh honey I think that any part of not letting yourself believe in something is that you think you are not going to get hurt. You are still going to hurt whether you believe in it or not so sit back, relax and enjoy the terrifying first trimester!
I have my fingers, toes and pubic hairs crossed that this goes good for you!
