On Feb 15 I had a D&C as a result of a missed miscarriage. I bled for 2 weeks after and then had light bleeding / spotting for one more week. Two weeks after that stopped I got my first period. It went for two weeks, stopped for a few days and then started again, lasting for one more week. On Wednesday I started to get cramps and started bleeding lightly. Today I have been bleeding heavily and for two hours this afternoon I was in excruciating pain with cramps hitting me every couple of minutes. I normally get period pain on the first day of my period but it has never been as bad as this and panadol or nurofen will take the pain away, I was getting to the point of thinking did I need to go to A & E as pain relief was doing nothing. I finally managed to doze off for half an hour and when I woke they were gone. Hopefully they don´t come back.
This was my first pregnancy and so I have never experienced anything like this before, I guess I´m just wanting some advice or info on what others have been through. It is a really crappy time and it messes with you so much, I really had no idea how bad it would be.
Sorry for your loss JoLizzy. You're right its a really crappy thing to be going through.
It sounds like the pain/cramping could have been retained product passing. Its not uncommon for bleeding to stop and start when you have retained product.
For peace of mind I would see if your GP can refer you for a scan to check that you're all clear now.
JoLizzy- Im very sorry for your loss. I would def got to A&E or see your doc. I had a miscarrige with my first and after i left the hospatil they told me to go stright back up if my bleeding went on to long (longer than 2wks) or I had real bad pains. You want to just doubble cheek as you can get infections and things that can cause harm latter on when you try again.
you could get your quantitative hcg done, if it is more than 5 you have retained products. D+C's are blind procedures and its not unknown for them to not get everything out.
An ultrasound will show for definite.
Sorry you are going through this
