Anyone have a reccomendation for a HARNESSED booster seat that can keep its 5 point harness on for over 18kgs...most of the ones I have come across say to remove the harness at 18kgs...
and the shop people Ive asked aren't exactly answering my questions..

The reason I ask is my 18 month old is 17kgs as it is and about 83cms... and no way will a seatbelt across a booster restrain her..but shes getting too tall for her carseat

At her age - even though she is big enough to maybe fit a booster - she should still be in a carseat, she is far too young for a booster seat.

How do you mean too tall for the carseat?

We got a great carseat from the baby factory - goes from birth up past 4 years old and can then have car seat belt later on - very sturdy too - the headrest moves up as the harness gets moved up so they still have head support.

It can be used up until they are 132cms in height and 36kgs.. so usually way past school age - it's called an Alpha omega. When i first looked at it i didn't like it terribly much but it's great and probably your best bet as it will give plenty of room for your girl to grow - the greatest part is it still has the 5 point harness too which my 3.5yr old fits and has more room to grow into.   I think it was about $250 ish if i remember.

Will post a pic later.

I don't know what you mean by too tall for her carseat - are you wondering if she's too heavy? Ella is over 90cm and is no way too tall for her carseat

I don't really know the answer to your question, but have you called Plunket? They do car seat rentals so there's always someone there who knows what they're talking about when it comes to carseats.

I can see how some kiddies' heads would get pretty high on the carseat but I guess the big factor would be if the carseat keeps sloping back to the back of the seat or if the child's head is going to flick back with sudden moving/stopping of the vehicle. Mine is contoured so even when Briona gets taller, I think she'll still be fine (Hannah is in a booster seat but she's 3yrs and 14kg).

I wouldn't worry about the height, my nearly 3 year old is 1 metre tall and is still in his car seat.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Here we go.. the pics - her whole headrest part moves upwards and takes the harness straps with it.. not the most gorgeous colours but still.

definately a good investment.. by the time Ayja is too big for her safe n sound birth to 4 yrs one she can then move to this and Paris will be big enough to have a normal booster seat - i think they still recommend 5 & 6 yr olds have boosters as many are still quite little.

We have the Evenflo Apollo for Maya which is very similar to the Alpha Omega but slightly cheaper. I've just taken the 5 point harness off last week and Maya is about to turn 4. We use it now with a normal seatbelt across like a booster.

I bought it when she was 2 as her old seat got ruined when our car was broken into but they can go in these "convertible booster" style carseats from around 9kg.

We have the Evenflo Generation Booster seat- it cost a small fortune but its worth it IMO. It goes from 9 kgs to 45 kgs and is more like a car seat than a booster- plus it has a tether strap and has a slight recline. It has a 5 point harness and DD is 103 cms and still has heaps of room to grow in it. Its great- totally recommend it.

my boy is 19 mths old and measures about the same... what sort of carseat do you have that your bub has grown out of it - and do you mean that the top of her head is even with the top of her carseat ? cause if so that will be fine anyway.

Iv got the same one for Bay that Emma has for Maya - an Evenflo Apollo and its awsome!!! it only cost us $200 from the baby factory and goes from 9kgs until something like 8 yrs old! Bay is still in the harnesses but when we do short trips like to daycare etc he just uses the normal seatbelt.
