Topic: Going away - what would you do? Posted: 07 August 2007 at 8:53am |
We're going to be away all day tomorrow and I can't work out what type of nappies to pack (MCN or sposies). Given that the wet ones will be sitting in our van all day and we have two in full-time nappies (so say 10 nappies), what would you use? I've got the Friends bags but is there still a less stinky option?

whenever we go away, if its for the day, then i use the mcns and just wash them when we get home, BUT i also take along sposies, just encase.
and if we are away for more than a day, then we use sposies...you just have to do whatever is going to be easiest on you.

I have plenty nappies for a day and I find them just as easy as each other. I just don't like the stink of accumulated wee *holds nose*
(and my DH is even worse than me LOL)

I would just take MCN's, but then we don't have any other option in our house.
Besides you'd still have the nappies in your car unless you are planning on dumping them in someone else's bin which they might not want or dumping them in a public bin.

Id just take a nappy bucket with my MCN's and put some tee tree oil in the bucket to help with the smell if it bothered me. I hate sposies soooo much now!

Were going away for a week on friday I was tossing between getting sposies or taking my nappies with I decided on taking my nappies I like Stacey's idea of the bucket and tea tree oil.

When I had friends stay with us, they had scented bags you can get from the supermarket to put soiled nappies in (sposies) and then they can go in the normal garbage. Do you have something similar you could put your MCNs in until you get home.
They stayed with us for 3 days, and I never noticed any smelly nappies.
For convenience holidays/trips away I would use sposies. Then you get a break too.

Yep we always use cloth too. On day trips I use a nappy bag with tea tree oil.
When we go away we are either at my parents or in-laws so we use our MCN's then too. We might be going aways for 2 nights in Oct staying in a motel so will prob get sposies then.

I usually use cloth when I'm away, I used sposies when I went to Whakatane coz my dryer packed up the day before we left so I had a tanty and couldn't get enough inserts etc. dry and using sposies was a PITA! I felt bad putting them in Kelly's bin, and they are so expensive.

If its just for the day, I use cloth... if its for overnight or longer, then I use sposies as I only have enough for both boys/one day (at the moment). When we went to Katikati/Tauranga for the holidays, I took our MCN but ended up using sposies most of the time as I didn't have the ability to dry the cloth nappies overnight properly.

I always use cloth while away.
Maybe just put some tea tree oil on a cloth for inside the plastic bag if you can't stand the smell?

We went to Whangarei for the day on Sunday and just used the MCN's and washed them when we got home. I just put them in the friends nappy bags and then in a drybag with tea tree oil on them. No stink, no hassle and no leaks
