Hi
What ideas are around for what to do with a 1 year old girl. She is happy to entertain herself but I want to give her more...
What is there out and about in Central/West Auckland?

Mainly Music's are great the kid's get so much out of them not sure where your local one might be, but they are run in a local church(not a reglious thing just held in the church).  To start with she will prb not be too interested and you think she not getting anything out of it then one day she will jsut click and start dancing.  Both my boy's love it Alan has been going scince he was very little.

Since I don't live out west I am struggling to think of things, but the first two that pop into my head are feeding the ducks at Western Springs, or the zoo. Obviously you'd have to pay for the zoo, but not for the ducks - and could be tricky on a wet day. Is she walking yet? She might enjoy somewhere like Lollipops or Chipmunks, you could just look them up in the white pages for one in your area. My daughter is pretty happy to entertain herself as well, but we will often go visiting or even just pop up to the local shopping centre to break up our day a bit.

There's heaps of us West Auckland Mum's with 1 year olds! There's myself, Deez, Amy, Pepsi ummm... I'm sure there's more than that out West.
Perhaps a playdate?

We've always truggled with entertainment for Caitlin as I work 4 days a week now so it would be interesting what people come up with. We have a Mainly Music in New Lynn but it's on a Monday
We've just tried to enrol Caitlin in the Henderson Valley Playcentre but I think it's not really suitable for that age group, better for 2yrs+ I just felt there were too many hazards and had to keep pulling her away from stuff which defeated the whole idea of her going, to help her learn to play with other kids We're going to re-evaluate where she's at after Christmas and will probably take her there again, it's a really lovely playcentre.

I know most of the YMCA's in NZ run Tiny Y's its gym for children aged 1-5 it does cost (down here in Palmy its $5 a session) thou.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Thanks for all the info. My church does Mainly Music just haven't had the nerve to get up and go. But I am going to throw all to the wind and go!
All the info is great, now my next Q. How do each of you organise yourselves to go out?
I seem to manage getting myself and Amanda together to get to my folks most Fridays but anything else and I'm a scatterbrain.
A meet of mums would be great. When, where, how, who and what. Oh, just keep encouraging me, I sometimes freak at the idea of meeting new people!

Hey and welcome,

I am keen for all of us to catch up, we can use my place as a base if you like....
My boy just turned 1 at the beginning of the month and he is definately very active. He is in care for 5 days as I am working full time.

We take him swimming at West wave once a week and he just loves it there. Other than that we are slack and spend a lot of time at home playing and interacting.

I know the BHB community centre do mainly music but that is during the week and we aren't around.
