Topic: what will u do differently ? Posted: 05 April 2006 at 12:15am |
so do u plan to do differently next time u have another bundle of joy?
I (plan to)
Be in a committed relationship, i'll be grateful to chris till the day i die for being caitlyns dad but i missed the whole shopping for clothes, going to midwives appointments etc with him (we broke up when i was 7weeks)
Have a home birth (if i suits baby of course)
Not find out the gender
Make more of my own baby food and i'll even mix some expressed milk in with it (got that idea from caitlyns stepmummy, angela-genius a?)
USE CLOTH NAPPIES!!!!
and finally not worry about when my baby will walk and talk cos now i know its so much harder to get them to sit down and shut up!
So.....anyone else got any plans?

i will be PLANNING a child and actually be excited when I see the second blue line. (my poor boys - i love them dearly but they were a bit of a "suprise")
I wno't buy many clothes, as my grandmother buys enough clothes to clothe a small nation - should I decide to have that many children.
buy a pushchair that can accomodate a toddler seat.

I don't know if there is alot I am planning to do differentlly other then breast feed this one I gave up with Alan at 8 weeks and have regretted it ever scince I never had any trouble was just too lazy. oh and use cloth nappies from the start rather then waithing till nearlly 1.
And when I have #3 I am going to leave the sex a suprise although it seems this is going to be a bit of a suprise as they could not tell me for sure.

It would nice to have the gender a surprise but I'm too impatient
I want to find patterns and sew my own cloth nappies and use them from day one. (I use disposibles, got too lazy, and did not know about the nappy systems until later on!)
My second baby will learn to sleep in his/her own bed for naps no matter what! (As conveinient as it is, I don't think it will work with 2 kids)
I will breastfeed again for the same amount of time if not longer (oh wait, that's not different )

I wanted to be in a committed relationship, and I am...
I want to get new things for Baby, not all hand-me-downs like I had for Kiya (things like a cot, and pushchair and stuff) and we had to use for Josiah. Nat's now working as compared to both of us being students, so we might be able to.
Not finding out the gender at this stage... (Nat may change his mind and talk me into it... We'll see...)
I want to breastfeed for longer than the 6 months I fed Kiya, and hopefully longer than the 8 months I fed Josiah.

well since i am not having any more, the second time around, I WANTED to -
make sure baby slept in her own bed and got into routines, before she hit 3 months! (it took so long to figure things out first time!)
breastfeed for longer and make sure i got enough help and support to do so
and i had, before conceiving, wanted to be finished my nursing degree so i could take maternity leave spend time with my kids and enjoy them.
I also wanted to be in a decent job and a nice house so that i could decorate my kids rooms really kewl
And what happened?
* I got ayja to sleep in her own bed wonderfully, all the time, no probs, in a good routine. - but then she started daycare and that has flown out the window ever since despite numerous attempts to persuade her otherwise.
* well, i still didn't seek out much support, but i at least went to the breastfeeding education session at the hospital.. and even though i have had a million and one placements and ayja has had bottles *offered* to her at those times, here i am 10 months later with a fully B/Fed baby.
*lol, well, i concieved ayja about a month after returning to full time study, and there was no option of maternity leave, i still see her a fair bit because other than placements, third year study does not contain so many classes, just a heap of assignments - so i have my girls at home as often as i can - they are a welcome distraction from assignments.
* well, i hope to have a decent job soon, in a little under 20 weeks i will be finished my degree, we are moving to a new house tomorrow - and i have everything set so that the girl's rooms will be decorated really kewl - fairy princess for Paris and pooh bear and friends for Ayja. - it's not our OWN home, but it's a home and most importantly - the walls ARE NOT GREEN!
i have just learnt that no matter what you *plan* to do next time.. sometimes things don't always turn out how you planned - sometimes they turn out better

So far, i have done everything the way i wanted to, and maybe the only things I would do differently would be use cloth nappies more, FORCE baby to eat my food instead of holding out till i give in and get a can.. Breastfeed longer than the 10 months I managed.
What a girly swat..

Only thing I would do different is not give my baby a bottle to go to sleep with, getting him out of that is going to be a nightmare!

I have to admit, this time around I'm a lot better about putting Taine to bed when he looks tired, rather than with Jake, it was when he flaked! I don't know if it is related but probably - taine is a much more placid kid and sleeps a lot more during the day!

What will I do differently? Everything probably - since there are 2 t once!
But seriously, I b/f Maya till 10 mths, would like to b/f the twins and give up when I/they are ready, not because the doctors tell me I have too.
Will use cloth nappies again!
