Im wondering what veges are good to plant around this timeof year? I want to get my little vege patch up and running so we have some winter veges but Im not too sure what to plant. I want to have some veges that we can feed our little man in a few months.

I was thinking along the liens of spinach, courgettes, cabbage etc...

Have a look at your local garden centre - that's your best guide for what can be planted now in your area.
Its pretty much brassica time now so cabbage, broccoli, & cauliflower are the main ones plus spinach, silverbeet, beetroot, carrots, peas, broad beans, lettuce, radish.
Courgettes, cucumber, corn, pumpkins etc are better grown in the spring/summer, winter is too cold for them. Pumpkins should be cheap in July/August (look for them when they are $1-2 for a big one) which should be good timing for your little man starting solids.
Here's a website I use for planning my plantings.
http://www.gardengrow.co.nz .
Hope this helps & happy planting!

Oh I've just had the garden diary out and planning my winter patch myself.

In addition to what Karey suggested we're planting onions too. Such a boring time of year for vege planting at the mo!

Oh great thanks for that ladies! I plan to do some planting over the weekend.

I am a bit wary of buying things that are in the garden centre just incase it is too soon to plant them. I got caught by that in summer. I havent got a huge area, but will do some planning then go shopping!
