Hi all,
I'm having my second baby in March and am trying to decide whether or not to use cloth nappies! I used disposables with my daughter and although they were convenient I'm truly sick of the excess garbage.
I'm almost sold on pocket nappies like the ones sold by Honey Child.
But I am also interested in those prefolds - I guess I'm just looking for the easiest cloth nappy system! Can you help?
the snazzipants site has a great comparison chart of all the diff systems and the pros and cons of each, thats always a great place to start. the best thing about prefolds is they are versatile. can be used snappied, pad folded, or as pocket stuffers.
I find pockets are fab! But there are tons of variety out there now. There's been quite a number of threads recently about what people find the best type and why. So if you have a read through some previous recent threads in the cloth nappy discussion you should get some good info!
There have been tones of threads, and everyone is different. However from the feedback I came to the conclusion to start with pre-folds and covers with new borns and progress to pockets when bubs are big enough.
Oh and after doing the maths MCNs are way way cheaper than any disposable system.
And I can recommend Stacey's MCNs they're soo cute and cuddly much nicer against they're bum than plastic sposies.
I use a combination of the two. Prefolds are awsome for around home etc and they are really economical too, you get about 5 for about 20 dollars at snazzipants.
Pockets are great, there are so many out there and they are all so damn cute!
I used prefolds on my newborn with the snazzipants fleece cover as my favourite cover ( and it fitted really well on my wee boy...he was 7lb 5 and now is 11 lb and it is just about too small). We have just started using pockets mostly and I am loving it. I have a honeychild and it would have been too big on him as a wee baby. When I have the night inserts in it is massive and he cant move at all.
