When i was going to the gym the best time I found was after 9am, by then everyone had buggered off to work and it was pretty empty.
I made sure I didnt have food an hour either side of working out

The best times would be between 9am-330pm.......but there generally isnt any classes between those times either if your wanting to do classes. Also i used to work at a gym and alot of gyms have a off peak rate, so if your only going to use the gym at off peak times then there is sometimes a cheaper membership etc
Ive just been having an up and go before i go and exercise and have my breakfast later...........but ive heard that you shouldnt eat for at least 30mins after exercise as your body is using up the fuel (or fat) but if you eat for 30-60mins after the body will use the new fuel.........all works out in the end i believe but sounds good......

I've just started and I HAVE to go at 6am. It is the only time I can fit it in. This way DH is home to look after the kids. I get up, grab a drink and a piece of toast and go. Then I come back and have my breakfast.

The eating part depends on what you are training for .. although its not ideal to be trying to digest food while you are working out, so eating an hour before hand would be best.
I ensure I eat a high protein meal within 30 minutes of training, because your body will needs it to repair the muscle, otherwise your just breaking down muscle which is not something you want (no matter what you are training for)
I go at 5am and 4pm both times are pretty "off peak"

I go at 6am as well and its pretty quiet, I also go at 5.30ish and it is SO busy then!
I eat a bananna before hand, sometimes a piece of toast and then I ALWAYS have a protein shake as soon as Ive finished my work out.

I usually try and get there so my workout is done by 5pm, coz our gym gets busy around then and they have a booking system for the cardio machines. It really interrupts your workout if you have to wait ten minutes in between xtrain and treadmill!
I don't go if I won't be done by 7pm coz otherwise all the endorphins have me pumped up so I can't sleep.
I'd love to say I'd get up in the morning and go, but the reality is I'm still clinging to my bed with my claws at 8am when the kids come to drag me out .
Foodwise, I find afternoon works well as I've already digested lunch, and I can have dinner when I get home coz I'm usually starving after a good run. I find if I eat too close to the start of a workout I feel really sluggish and yuck.

i usually go (which hasn't been for a while!) straight after dropping jack at school. if i can't go before 12, i don't bother.
it can depend on the gym as too what time it gets busy. mine has an 'off peak' time which is 11-4pm so it can get busy at 11...mostly senior citizens and mums, but i hate working out with alot of people DH goes to the same place around 6.30-7pm and it's usually pretty quiet.
i like to go an hour after i eat otherwise i'm either hungry, or got a tummy full of food, both of which make it hard to do a good workout

I go at 9am, the gym here is nice and quiet at that time. The bonus is my gym has a free creche between 9 and 10.30am which is awesome!
I find that if I eat breakfast at my normal 7am time, I am good to go by 9am. I have a fruit smoothie with a protein shot afterwards, and that gets me through to lunchtime. I have a massive lunch though because of BF.

In a perfect world, I would go first thing in the morning (6am) and have breakfast after getting home.
Reality is that I sometimes go in the evenings (6:30 or 7:30PM) sometimes in the mid morning (9:15am -taking advantage of the gym creche, which is fantastic, $6 for 2 hours, enough time for a workout, shower and a coffee...) and sometimes 6am.
If I'm going to eat before hand, it has to be at least an hour before and I usually eat within an hour or so of completion.
