Topic: How much for a birthday present? Posted: 26 March 2010 at 6:20pm |
Hey there
We have recently moved back to NZ and don't know how much to spend on a kids birthday present. We have been invited to a birthday party for a girl from kindy. I would say she is 5years old. How much would you spend on a present? I don't want to spend too much or too little.
Thanks

I'd spend $10 max? Specially seeing as she's not part of the family.

I tend to go for about $10-$15. You can get something quite good for this kind of amount. HTH

I spend $10-$20 depending on how well I know the kid. Usually on the lower side though.

We have a maximum of $20 for all kids birthday presents whether they are the kids friends or cousins etc. There is plenty you can get for that price, and I tend to stock up during sales etc and hoard them away

The Wearhouse have some good specials on girls toys. I brought a My little Pony with a DVD for $15 for a 5 year old present.

Often I'll spend $10, get my eldest to decorate a card, and then buy $1 wrapping paper from the warehouse - if you buy a card as well you end up spending $3-$5 sometimes! If I know the kid well, I will go up to $20, but no more.
