Thats just disgusting - the woman just wanted to feed her baby for goodness sake. Cannot believe they gave gift vouchers poor woman probably never wants to go on a bus again.
I'm sure a lot of people show a lot more boob just from the clothes they wear and there would not be complaints then.

whats worse, did you read the comments from others about the article, most people think it was her fault for showing boob - cos thats what she wanted to do she had a hungry child and thought what i really want to do is get my boobs out on the bus for fun

*shakes head* I really wanted to add a comment after that story but really I am speechless about how, I don't know, ignorant? Horrid? rude? prejudiced? (I don't know the right words) people can be. I do understand though that bfing isn't very "big" or "practiced" in the UK so it doesn't really surprise me I suppose

the thing i hate most about the comments are people saying she could have waited and planned her feeds better.... and that she should be feeding the baby bottled formula or EBM in public because its on the same par as defacating or urinating in public.........
so glad I live in NZ!

Poor thing, being kicked off in the rain as well, some people (perhaps those from certain cultures, would be offended I guess, considering some can't even show their faces) but it took me a while to feel comfy BF in public because to matter how much they tried, people always look at the corner of their eye at you haha. even my partners friends, if they were at my house, I wasnt going to hide in the bedroom, but they would sit there slightly uncomfortable, but hey, their mothers fed them the same way!!! Your baby is THE most important thing, who cares what others think really, I would have refused to get off that bus, I cant imagine anyone would of man handled her off it?

As far as I know its illegal to not allow a woman to breastfeed in the UK so I think that the bus company / driver should be charged with breaking the law. Its true that BFing isnt as accepted here in the UK as it is in NZ but when DS was younger I fed anywhere I needed too and never got any negative response. Our local Costa Coffee is known as Costa Creche cos all the new mum groups in the area use it as a base for meeting up
I just cant believe no one stood up for her either on that bus, I would have gone berko at the driver / passengers on her behalf if I was there, surely there was at least one other person who had the brains to realise what the driver was doing was morally reprehensible as well as illegal.
Sad state of affairs.
Oh and I'd bet the gift vouchers were for Mothercare, the leading babycare store in the UK but that is a token gesture and not good enough, that driver needs a written warning at the very least and prosecution IMO.

I saw a Facebook Group the other day that was called "If breastfeeding offends you - put a blanket over YOUR head!" .
That is crazy. So glad I've never had anyone look at me sideways or funny when I'm feeding in public and I feed anywhere and everywhere. Not sure what I would do if someone told me what I was doing was offensive! I would hope that I would be able to think up a very witty and scathing rebuttal on the spot but probably more likely I'd go red in the face, mutter a swear word but finish feeding and then think of all the cool things I should have said later after the moment has passed and bitch about it to whoever will listen......
Poor lady

I am gobsmacked at the negative comments.
why should she have to take bottles..it is right there on tap. most mothers when they breastfed in public dont draw attention to themselves they just want to get on with feeding their baby.

Wow that makes me so fricken angry!! That poor woman and her poor baby. All they wanted to do was feed in peace. It's not like she flopped her boobs out and shoved them in someones face! A complaint about her "behaviour". How pathetic. So feeding a baby because it's hungry is offensive behaviour now is it.
People having their boobs and asses hanging out is perfectly acceptable but discreetly feeding a baby isn't?? The world is a VERY sad, pathetic place.
Every woman has boobs which are there for BREASTFEEDING, not pleasing males!, so why is it such a big deal when someone breastfeeds in public??? I didn't realise we were still living in the past!

WOW. What a bunch of idiots.
I do understand that old people can be quite shocked by breastfeeding in public as it just wasn't the done thing when they were having their kids, but I just can't believe so many others are so offended by it. Surely a discreet bit of side-boob is way preferable to a baby screaming the bus down in hunger for the 20 minute trip?
Poor woman, it must have been so humiliating for her.
Edited to clarify myself.

Heh, I BF in pak'n'save the other day. DD was going to scream the place down if I didn't, and I figured I'd get worse looks for that. I just tucked a blanket into my bra strap to cover us a bit and carried on shopping
My little sister who was with me was a bit shocked, but let it go, other than once saying " I can see your boob" as DD finished and pulled off. I don't know if I got any bad looks - I was too busy shopping and feeding to notice. But I tell you what - if anyone had tried to make me stop, they would have had a raging, sleep-deprived mama on their hands
I feed DD wherever she needs feeding, and I'm so glad I can. That poor woman! I'm guessing if she tried to complain no-one would really take her seriously enough to prosecute anyway

Who knows.
If she did make it up then she needs help
If she did not make it up then shame on the bus company.
I am all for BF & don't see a problem doing it in public, but however I think desecration is the key.
