Topic: Self Indulgant Mummy Post Posted: 27 February 2010 at 7:18pm |
Well after just over a year of not looking after myself i think i am going to treat myself to a nice hair cut. Not just a trim the ends and away ya go but a proper style. I have always had at least sholder length hair but am thinking more and more about getting a bit of a bob, i dont want short short though. But im too scared!! Is it a big change going from long to short?? easier to manage with not much time? I probably would have to straighten it as my hairs slightly wavy but normally can get away with bad hair days by just tying it up.... what would i do with short hair?

firstly - good on you for taking some "me-time" and getting a haircut! amazing how much more normal you can feel after a few hours at the salon a? lol
from my own personal experience....
i used to have short hair and it bugged me all the time, coz i love having the option to just be able to tie it up out of the way. spesh in hot weather. ive just found a new style that i love. called an "increase layer" where the way they do it, is all of your hair is cut to the same length (like all the hair is 8 inches long....) so the higher on your head it starts, the "shorter" it looks, so it creates this really nice layered look with a bit of feathering, and you can still tie it up really easily. im getting my hair cut on tuesday, can post a piccie of what it look like when done so you can see if you want? (you can still have it short, but there will be that option to tie it up aswell)

Do it! You will love it! And if you have good straighteners then it will only take a short time to get it looking good.
I think you know I chopped all my hair, from halfway down my back to REALLY short a little while ago and I LOVE it still, but then I have done the whole long to short many times, its liberating!!! My hair is naturally wavy so after I wash it (every 2nd or 3rd day) I put some mousse (so 80's) through it then blow dry it with a paddle brush and then straighten it. then I only need to use the straighteners on it the next day, or wet it, blowdry and straighten. I only let it dry naturally when DH is away and I am not leaving the house as it looks very "special" but not something I wish to share with others!
At the end of the day it will grow back if you do not like it, and there is always a hat, if I am having a "can't be arsed" day with my hair I wear a hat, especially at the beach.

Yes, i remember your chop and you looked great! Yup that settles it i will do it. Off to google some styles now. Might have to buy some headbands for those cant be naffed days. Im sure it will be no different, i normally straightened every few days or before heading out somewhere flash. If all else fails i will just have to grow it back.
And yes, im in serious need of some me time so figure this will be a nice way to spend it. (fingers crossed!)

Ohhhh I'd love to change my hairstyle, but I'm too scared to. My hair is so thin and I've still got post-baby new hair coming through. Wouldn't mind some 'additional' hair woven in - that would be cool!
Good luck if you decide to make a change. Show us your 'makeover'.

Loving the link you posted. I've been contemplating getting a major upheavel to my hair too, I've always had long straight boring hair and am thinking of going rather short, kind of like a Victoria Beckham style, only problem is that if I don't suit it or don't like it it'll take forever to grow out (I have the slowest growing hair ever!!), but I'm thinking I'll go for it, could be fun to have a change.

I get my haircut, feathered sortve style so its lighter and I just ask it be just long enough to hop in a ponytail. Its still only really about boblength though.
Don't know if that helps :D
