And don't worry about not having a romantic proposal or anything, I didn't get one from Dh either... actually it was his mum who said to me one day while I was at his place "has he asked you to marry him yet?" in which I said no.  He was in the shower at the time, so MIL and I said that when he got out, I would take him around to my place and we would just ask my dad for his permission for us to get married!  So I sprung it on Dh when he got out of the shower, and that was that!
