This may sound totally ridiculous but DS is now only wearing nappies to bed at night. He's been doing so well going to the toilet. He's started going all by himself and I won't realise he's been until I find his undies or shorts are still off.

It's so awesome that he is going all by himself and I am THRILLED that he's at this stage but it makes me sad to know he is becoming less dependant on me.

Our toilet training story...

We toilet trained DS by telling him he could have a lolly if he went in the potty. (Not totally PC I know   - but it worked!!) After 1-2 days he was happy to just go and forgot all about the lolly bribe. Eventually he went to the toilet like Daddy - this has all happened in the last 6 weeks.

I found he stuck to it (I've never toilet trained before, this is just my opinion) better because from day 1 of training we didn't put nappies on him during the day - unless it was a car ride that would last over 1 hour. We'd get him to go before we went in the car, before we left anywhere, just to make sure he wouldn't need to go in the car.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Every time DD does something new for herself I feel that way. Like yay she's becoming more independant, but awwww she doesn't need me I try and cherish the small things coz one day she's not gonna want to hold my hand etc.

Sounds like your DS did awesome with TT. Go him

This is probably the reason people have another baby about now!!

Every age has its stages though. That is how I try to think of it, the next stage will be fun and exciting for you so I try and focus on the positives

lol Caro, i was about to say the same thing! Have another baby!!
I'm just relieved that DD1 is toilet trained during the day. It's one last thing that i have to do. It's delaying the inevitable though because when my last one goes through all these milestones i'll be sad and weepy too.
