Our first baby is due in just over 5 weeks and have made the decision to go cloth. But I though I would reap the benefit of all you ladies fantastic knowledge and see if you think I need/should get anything extra before baby arrives.
Here is what I've currently got:
-12x Bumgenius OSFA
-4x size 2 Bamboozles fitted naps (apparently you can make them smaller to fit smaller babies rather than gettin the size 1)
-3x covers
-6x prefolds
-1x Bubblebubs ('cos it was too cute!)
-1x small Honeychild
-My Mother is knitting me some saokers also

I still need to get detergent, but is there anything else you reccommend for me to get to start out with?

Thanks - you guys are great!!!

You sound pretty set, once bubs arrives and you figure out which type of nappy you like best (ie, prefolds, fitteds or pockets etc) then you could invest in more naps if you are like me and like having lots so you don't HAVE to do washing so often hehe.

The only thing I can think of is a couple of spare inserts if you want to use them overnight etc.

A lidded bucket to put them in once they are used.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

you've got heaps! It will all depend on how little or big that new bottom is. I found Tom was too small for pockets but great for prefolds but that was before I found Bum Genius and I reckon they might be the go.

Rowan is in Bumgenius now even though they say they start from 3.5kgs and she was 3.2 when she started wearing them. Can't recommend them highly enough. I also find that the inserts are more absorbent than the fuzzis.

I second what Stacey said - maybe get some extra inserts. Rowan wets heaps and I find that I need boosters in her fuzzis and also I put hemp inserts or extra prefolds in her prefolds.

Definitely get extra inserts! That way if you get behind on washing, your pockets will be dry in no time and you can stuff them with your extra inserts whilst the wet ones are still drying.

Thanks guys, extra inserts was the way I was thinking.

I forgot to mention I have a lidded bucket and some cloth wipes also (though I need to get more of those).

Stacey (Foxybots) does lovely soft cloth wipes that would be perfect for tiny tushes, or if you're on a budget then small muslin squares work well too (T&T also do cheap flannel wipes). And when baby gets bigger and is doing solid poo I highly recommend the Dandilionz terry/velour wipes - they're very good at cleaning up sticky messes!

I just bought packets of 10 face clothes from babyfactory, they are only about $10 pack and do the job just as well.
