Im after a booster seat for DS. Im not all that interested in one that can have the top half removed as this is a safety issue and appear to be no longer recommended because they dont provide protection (well according to the Consumer Review).

Im not too sure on my budget but am open minded on cost as safety is more what Im after (within reason of course).

So what do you have and do you recommend it?

We recently bought the Evenflo Generations 65 Booster and we're very happy with it. It fits so tight into the car with the seat belt and anchor (we don't have the LATCH things that newer cars do). I chose this one because it's well tested, the head rest is adjustable, it has an inbuilt harness that goes up to 25.5kg and then you use it like a normal booster with the seat belt up to 45kg and it's a reasonable price.
I researched it for ages and when I finally decided what seat I wanted I found it to be the cheapest HERE.

ETA; I also love it because it's really easy to adjust the tightness of the straps once DD is in it. DD loves the chest clip because she can do it up lol

I spoke to plunket yesterday and they dont recommend a booster until at least 3 1/2 years. We hired a second carseat from them for a short time when DS out-grew the capsule and needed the carseat buy DD was too young for the booster.

Oh thats interesting, Kellz‼ Some boosters I've seen start at around the 9kg - 13kg mark. Im only intersted in the ones that have a 5 point harness though, so perhaps thats different to the once Plunket are referring to?

I think they mean traditional boosters, as in the one that uses the car seatbelt rather than an inbuilt harness.
Personally I wouldn't use a normal car seatbelt for a child under 20kg which is why we went with that Evenflo one, she'll be harnessed for aged :)

Yeah maybe thats tru. Isla's been in a booster since about 3 1/2 I think,....but she weighs a lot less than 20 kg and is in a full booster using just the adult seat belt. I doubt she will even be 20kg by the time shes 6! Im not gonna pt her in a half booster tho cos I definatly want her to have the full protection that the full height boosters offer.
