Topic: Small itti bittis - much point Posted: 29 October 2009 at 2:16pm |
I'm thinking of putting bubby 2 straight into itti's. Do I bother with smalls or go straight to mediums. Ryan was 3.25kgs at birth and the smalls start at 3.5kg. I'm thinking too tat if bubby is a girl she may be smaller, as dh and I were boh smaller than what Ryan was.

I'd go to mediums. Daniel could fit them from about 6 weeks and was in larges at 5 months.

Trying one of each isn't really enough is it? You'd have to have something to use in the meantime - I can't imagine 2 nappies would be enough! I want to go to itti bittis too, but I'm not sure how big my baby will be, or if itti's will be the right shape for him/her so I bought some second hand pre-folds to use while I figure out which nappy will suit him/her the best.
Have you had any growth scans to give you an idea where this bubs fits?

Floyd was 4375gms so yup a big baby!! He did loose a lot of weight and didnt get back to birth weight till almost 5 weeks but he fitted smalls right up until he was nearly 4 months. He is quite slim around his middle though.

Jake was in his small ittis until 6 months... they fit him from 4kg (skinny waist and chicken legs) until 6.5kg They still fit him around the legs and rise but I found they were starting to leak a bit and the rise was REALLY low so moved him up to his mediums.
I would really recommend not buying a whole lot of one type of nappy until you try them. Even if you have to do a mix of cloth and disposables to start with.
Ittis did not suit Jake until he was about 4 months because of his build. His chicken legs meant poosplosions just ran right down his leg (and with a lactose problem and chronic diarrhoea there was a lot of this).
Pockets suited him much more then.
You just dont know what build bubs will be until they are born and which nappy will work for you....

No 2 nappies wont be enough but its better than buying a whole lot to find they dont fit ;) And it only takes a few days for more nappies to be sent once you see which fit best :)
Having prefolds or even some secondhand nappies is a good idea to save $ while you figure out which size ittis bubs will fit, you can always on-sell them when you know what is going to work best for bubs.

Cooper was in smalls at 6 weeks & I went on to them specifically to contain poosplosions which they did brilliantly. He was 3kg born & went out of smalls at 8 months(7kg). Not based on size but on weeing capability.

I loved the large Itti's I'd used on baby no.2 (he was 17mths when we discovered them) so much that I bought a bunch of mediums when pregnant with baby no.3 - either on sale or preloved. I then bought a bunch of 'newborn' nappies really cheap ($5-$10 each) on TM & TNN to use in the first few weeks until the mediums fit & got nearly all of my money back when I resold them because they'd had such little use. Baby no.3 was 4.1kg/9lbs at birth and fitted the mediums from 5kg & 4wks old. He's now 7mths & probably 8kg and he still fits them with just one popper gap in the middle. We've never had a problem with bf poo-splotions, in fact I think they contain them brilliantly!
Here he is wearing his first med at 4wks old

Ryan went into small peopods at 6 weeks I still have all of them but getting rid to get the itti's. I've got 2 Mediums now and 2 larges Ryan has only just gone into a large at 15 motnhs, and is still in Medium Fuzzi bunz and ecobubs.
On scan growths this baby is smaller than he is (thats why i think its a girl). I will probably be real naughty and use spozie's for a few days/weeks. I still have 3 packs left over from Ryan.
Maybe I'll get 2 small itti's and get some fuzzi's as well, cause I love fuzzie's. THen just decide when bubs is born.
