QuoteReplyTopic: Which washing powder or liquid is best? Posted: 30 October 2009 at 2:32pm
Yay!!! Just got back from the Parent & Child show where I bought some MCNs for DS. They are in the washing machine right now being prewashed. I can't wait to try them on him.
A quick question though from a cloth newbie...what washing powder or liquid is best to use? I have used ecostore powder because it was either that or surf & I didn't think the surf was a good idea. Is there something better I should try? I used half of what they recommended & put the machine on warm wash & an extra spin. Any other suggestions for washing?
I've always used Ecostore for both nappies & our general washing and I love it. I use the recommended amount of powder as I'd read that with ecostore you didn't need to reduce the amount of powder like you do with regular powders. My washing machine is never full with nappies though - I wash every second day and my machine is probably 3/4 full with nappies, wipes & bum blankets (for changing on the floor) so I just put 3/4 of a scoop of powder!
I love soap nuts - they don't seem to leave any build up on my nappies, and I wash all my girl's clothes in it since it's the only thing I've found that doesn't upset her ecxma (even ecostore would make her itch)
I just bought a bunch at the Parent and Child show too Odette. I have to wait a bit before I can use them though as our baby is still a few weeks away. But mine are also in the machine now
Soap nuts sounds like the way to go, but for now I'm using the ecostore powder.
