Topic: east and sth auckland kids classes Posted: 29 March 2010 at 2:34pm |
anyone know of good clubs they can recommend to me for a 3 year old...for....
-preschool dance classes (all considered eg ballet jazz etc)
-athletics (under 4!) - we are involved in one but has finished for season.
-soccer
We want to stay local but seems there is not much this side of town...or they are hiding and dont show in google searches etc etc...
thanks

Ummm can't remember what its called but in Howick they have the little soccer league in Highland Park across from the foodtown, all three of my brothers have done it and my cousin who went on to rep for NZ so they must be good
I think not sure the Athletics at the Howick domain has finished, we have the cars parked outside our house everyweek, think its a Wed?
Can't help with the dance classes, although my cousins daughter is in one. Oh in saying that there's Nicola Wheeler down the road from where I live again in Howick lol

Athletics is just a summer thing, usually one night through the week during daylight savings. Soccer usually starts at about five years old but you may be able to find a club or programme that takes younger ones. Enrolments may have closed already though.
IMO dance classes, gymnastics or swim lessons are probably the best for three year olds. Check your local paper for adverts or ask at daycare/kindy to see if anyone goes to one they can recommend. I trialled Caleb at the YMCA gymnastics and he loved it so we will enrol next term. There is a gymnastics club in Felton Mathew, Glen Innes that has Saturday preschool classes and a really good reputation.
If you are working most swimming lessons have a couple of classes on Saturdays that are reserved for children of working parents only.
Also, try the yellow pages, Citizens Advise Bureau, supermarket/shopping centre notice boards and notice boards of the local swimming pools or anywhere kid friendly (YMCA etc).

There is a real fantastic dance school in Moore street, Howick. And they do a mix of dances for the preschoolers and teaching them all the positions ect. Jazz, Hip Hop modern and some ballet.
They have a class at 9:30 and 10 on a Sat. Earlier one is for the 3 year olds and the 10 one is for the 4 year olds. It is real great price as well. $80 for a term. And it is the NIcole Wheeler dance school.
