Hi ya, Anyone using the baby first nappies that are advertised on TV? Saw them in baby city today and thought they looked good but as never having used a MCN I dont know what to look for. I think from reading packet you dont have to change the outer everytime which to me would cut down on washing, but does this make them any better? or would AIO like the baby cheeks be better? HELP!!!!

The baby first nappies were the first ones I purchased to try out (on sale at Baby city for $14 a while back), they are very good in my opinion, we have never had a leak, but I use both inserts so I purchased an extra pack of inserts so I can reuse the cover. They do make the baby's bum pretty huge!! I also got some Itty Bitties from trademe - they are so cute and heaps smaller, but we have had a few leaks with them.
We still use a disposable at night.

The first MCN's I got were Baby Firsts - he still fits the smallest size, too! He's too much of a heavy wetter to re-use the covers, but they are quite trim compared to most of his pockets. Buy just one first, and see how it fits your baby.

IMO I would only get a couple to try rather than a whole system of the baby forst nappies, ive heard mixed reveiws. i personally would change the outer mainly due to smell.
I agree with Jess, Itti Bittis are by far a superior nappy- but then im biast cos I LOVE them! and you definately cut down on the bulk factor!

Hi, these are the first MCN I brought (mainly due to the cheapness of them!) and I have had no problems with them, in fact I have brought more. Like Muz I brought an extra pack of inserts so you can reuse the cover. I generally use them with two inserts which can make them quite bulky though.

My sister is using these on her 18 month old and has found them better than any of her OSFA MCN

I know a few peolpe who use these on their older kids (over 1 and one who is 2.5) and they love them and don't seem to have a problem with them i guess it just come down to fit i guess, but i'd def just try 1 or 2 first rather that getting alot and them not working for the child.

Hi, Ive tried baby cheeks and baby first nappies and have found the baby first nappy to be better for a number of reasons.
I found the baby cheeks ones leaked - the fleecy part from the pocket comes out around the leg and babys pee absorbs into the insert, and then presses up against the fleece and comes out onto clothing. I seemed to be changing baby all the time for this reason. I also found baby cheeks to be very bulky around the waste and the thighs. I brought a couple of baby first to try out, as I got stung with the baby cheeks ones, after having brought 16 nappies and 28 inserts!
I am planning to go and buy a set of baby first nappies - I found the fit better, less bulky and they dont leak out around the legs - they are a really good fit. Also, you dont have to change the nappy outer every time you change baby- only if it is soiled by solid waste or if you have left baby too long with not enough absorbant inserts and the pee has wet the nappy outer. I too use 2 inserts and am able to use the same nappy outer many times. With baby cheeks you have to change it every time, so you have lots more to wash and it costs you more too!!
Oh, and one last tip - use them with nappy liners, then its so simple to get solid waste off- otherwise it can get a bit messy!!! Hope this helps.
