Hey there,

was just hoping to get some advise on which boosters are best for pocket nappies. I use one of the trade me nappies and although they are really great at preventing nappy rash and saving money lol, every morning my son soaks through his nappy about 2 or 3 times. Its getting worse as he gets bigger and sometimes happens when we go out so its quite frustrating. I have tried using the small and large insert at the same time but it just too bulky.I also bought a few hemp liners but they are too thin and don't seem to make much difference!

please help!!!

If they are the My baby nappies - they just leak. Through the PUL, not because of inserts. I've tried a lot of the cheap ones, and these are the only ones that leak through every time.

I have one mybaby, it's just for in my nappy bag for just in case. It hasn't leaked for us. But then I'll only have it on him for an hour or so.
YOu'd want more in any nappy overnight though. Deffinetely a bamboo or hemp insert especially with boys.
We use a ecobubs wool pocket with a bamboo trifold and 2 3 layer microfibres at night. And most mornings even that is pretty soaked.

I don't really get the "too bulky" thing.

Cloth nappies will be bulkier, as that is what they are. So either you use sposies which are trim fitting or you buy the next size ofclothing up.

The baby dosn't care how bulky the bum is. We were all broght up on cloth nappies and weall learnt to roll and walk with bulky nappies.

So if you want to use cloth nappies then you need to add enough absorbancy in to soak up the wee. Otherwise there is no point.

Mybaby nappies are great for about 2 hours, then they do need changing. It makes them a good day nappy because that's how often you should change cloth bums anyway. I always use one large microfibre insert and a hemp booster - microfibre is a great sponge and absorbs quickly, but doesn't hold onto wetness so if it's full then it will sponge the excess out. By adding hemp or bamboo, which don't absorb as fast but hold onto wetness really well, you end up with a good combo.

Have you tried using trifolds? I know some of the mums here swear by adding them to night nappies.
