Hey everyone...I got two pocket nappies off ebay and am curious about the inserts. One has the standard looking rectangularish type whereas the other one has a full on insert pretty much in the same shape as the nappy itself. I think it would be pretty good but would also be pretty fat I think - and it also has a rectangular what I assume is a booster that goes inside the one that is shaped like a nappy.

So my question is...are all inserts supposed to be like the shape of the nappy (I plan to make my own) or do you think the one shaped like a nappy is really a night time one or something?

Any advice appreciated!

Is it a baby harmony? Their inserts are like the shape of a nappy and have a rectangular insert. I use them during the day with no problems. BUT, other than that, mine are mostly trifolds cos I trifolds and I have a couple of rectangular ecobubs inserts.

I second the trifolds recommendation - they dry sooooo much faster. I'm making my own and while I started out making ones that were rectangularish (like the honey child ones, with rounded corners), I've switched to trifolds.

Okay, this may be a dumb question, but what exactly are trifolds? So far, I've just been using the microfibre inserts that have come with my pockets, but my boy is now wetting right them and the nappies are leaking. Am going to attempt to make some hemp inserts, cut in the shape of the nappy. Is this the way to go?

A trifold is just a square or rectangular insert that you fold in to 3. Made this way to have maximum absorbancy with minimal drying time. They can be any insert fabric and are generally 1 or 2 layers.

Hemp inserts will usually be 1 layer hemp and 1 layer microfibre, as hemp is a slow absober but will hold a lot.

Hope that helps
