no offence meant here.... but what do you guys find harder about using cloth at night? For us it's just 1 extra insert, sometimes 2. I just don't see what the difference is.
oh... and GOOD LUCK |
It's like that for me - instead of a m/fibre trifold, I'll use a m/fibre hemp trifold for him overnight, with a bamboo booster, or a bamboo fitted with small/large inserts, and cotton booster. But Seb is a light wetter as it is... some babies just pee too much I guess Lol. I don't really *understand* it as such, because I've never had to deal with it... but I can see how easy it would be to just go with sposies in that situation.
And I can certainly understand the smell issue when pregnant

So Isla has been up for 6 hrs and is on her third cloth nappy. She would have only been on her 2nd sposie by now. What can I buy to get the most out of the nappies I do have? Do I need diff inserts? I cant afford to buy all new nappies. Maybe I need to go up to large? They mediums are getting a bit short in the rise but still on tighest waist, and second tightest leg snaps. Or do I just stop being lazy and change her every 2 hrs?!! Its just such a mission it wears me out

I only have to change Seb every 3-4 hours, and I think that's fine for a toddler (maybe 3 for a heavier wetter) which is what you've been doing with sposies, so yeah I'd say maybe invest in some extra inserts (if there's room!) or try a different insert combo (m/fibre and hemp, or bamboo is usually pretty good for the space it takes up)

Oh - and you might find some nappies don't extend that much in the waist when you go from med to large. It's mostly the rise, and leg room. You'd probably want to do your research with that though
I find larges or mediums that go from 8 or 9kg up to 13 or so a safe bet - tweedle and foxybot larges are way too big, for Seb because he's a skinny wee thing, even though he's 11kg and they start from 10. They still do fit though, but just not very well.
at the moment with Seb looking nowhere ready for TTing, I'm wondering if I should sell my large tweedles as he probably won't grow into them, or keep them just in case he does.

Kellz - what inserts do you use during the day? We use either 2 microfibre inserts or a micro/hemp trifold and that lasts 3 hours. It would last longer but that's just when I happen to change him.

It doesn't matter whether the gremlins are in cloth or sposies they have to be changed every 2 hours coz they poo so often!

Stacey, I either use 2 HC large mirofibre inserts, or one trifold hemp/microfibre. I prefer them cos makes the nappy slimmer. Ok so I will just continue on,..and stop making excuses!

The gremlins are mega pee-ers atm too, I think they are getting better bladder control and peeing less often but doing bigger wees so when they do wee it floods.

Ok, so here is the place I admit to having a mega-lazy week and weekend and using sposies and no cloth. But the bonus was that I got all my cloth nappies clean and looking pretty on the change table - hardly ever see the whole stash in one place
Back into cloth today because it was rubbish day so thought we'd start with a clean slate. We have sposies left, but I'm not using them because they'll be handy when mum is looking after DD when I go in to have the baby - she's still not too sure about MCN's and the last thing I want is a phone call asking about what snaps to fasten when I've just given birth!

I just noticed this thread. Michaela's been in sposies full time for about 15 months now and we've decided to move her back into cloth.

I change Leo every 3-4hrs, depending on what we're doing. He may be able to go longer than that but I don't like to leave it too long as I don't think I'd like to be in a wet nappy much longer than that! His first nappy of the morning is always really wet after only 1-2hrs so that one gets changed sooner, but after that we just fit them in around what we're doing and when he's pooed. We usually just use mf during the day but a combo of hemp fleece & microfibre at night (a 2-layer hemp fleece trifold plus a hemp fleece/mf combo trifold on top).
