Topic: 3 weeks preg a bit worried, need advice Posted: 01 December 2007 at 3:04pm |
Hi there, My fiance and I have just found out we are 3 weeks pregnant, okay I know, how did we find out so early? well, we were trying to get pregnant and I started to get sore breasts so as you do, when you are excited about dalling pregnant, I did a test before my next period was even due and found I was pregnant! I went to the doctor and did a blood test to find an hcg level of 50. As i dont know anytning about pregnancy, I was wanting to ask anyone who can give me some advice, if a count of 50 is normal? if I should be worried about my period still arriving even though the test was positive and there are clearly hcg levels there, and also, why i havent got many symptoms is that normal? anyway we are very excited and would appreciate anyone who can give us first timers a little advice on these things?

I'm a first timer too but that is all normal..some people have hardly any symptoms..i ovulated and implanted early so i found out about 3 weeks 4 days as well...a non preganant woman has <5 ...questionable 5-25 and a definite at 25 + so you are doing great...the actualy number isnt that important more the doubling time..
this might help explain a bit (further down at the chart part of it)

as you can see you are totally within the range:)

Some people don't get many pregnancy symptoms at all , some do, but a lot of them (they say) don't really start to show up until around your 6th week. So what I'm saying is your normal!!!
Congratulations and good luck for the next few weeks!

Congratulations
I didn't get any morning sickness till abou 5/6 weeks and I got sore boobs around that time as well. At the moment what is going on won't be upsetting your body too much but soon you will definately start feeling pregnant.

hi kawwww, just checked out your website link and yes everything is a little clearer now. I really hope those numbers have doubled!
So should I be worried about my next period arriving? and is it still poss to bleed? I swear I am on the loo every 5 minutes making sure there is no sign of a period.

There is a thread with the codes in. It is called TTC 101 (or something like that).
AF stands for aunt flo and DPO days post ovulation.
As for being worried. It is possible to have an early miscarriage and then it would seem like your period has just arrived as normal (or a couple of days late), this happens but a lot of women don't know that they were pregnant. In the ever so lovely doctor speak it is referred to as a chemical pregnancy, would not make the loss any less though. It is also possible to have some slight bleeding at the time that your period would be due and for everything to still be perfectly ok and some women apparently have periods whilst pregnant (allow I think they must be very light).
Fingers crossed none of that happens to you, it is normal to be on the loo checking every 5 mins, i'm afraid you worry like a mum as soon as you get the BFP (big fat positive).
Unfortunately no easy answers, pregnancy is one huge waiting game i'm afraid.

Hi, it's pretty safe to say that you won't get your period if you've had a positive test HCG levels vary so widely that they almost don't say anything at all - just so long as they rise not fall. I didn't have very many pg symptoms in my first trimester (13 weeks), pretty much had the 'heavy' (feel like I'm about to have my period) feeling off and on and a bit of nausea, not to mention heaps of tiredness. But again symptoms vary very widely.

hi dtmum
I was convinced I was premenstrual till I did my test after getting hassled by a workmate! It was our first month of trying too so it took a while for the shock to wear off!
My signs were changes in taste (about 1 week post ovulation probably) and sore boobs a week later. Nausea kicked in about 5 weeks.
Congratulations!

I remember what it was like for me. I didn't find out til almost 6 weeks. I was like "hey, did I already have my period, or not". Funnily enough about a couple of days after I got my BFP (big fat positive) I started feeling ill, getting sore breasts and a big weakness to smells etc. Once I got to 12 weeks I announced it to my parents, friends and people at work. But, I totally wanted to scream it out as soon as I knew. Good luck on your pregnancy and congratulations.

Exciting! Enjoy breaking the news
I wanted to say try not to worry about feeling premenstrual, I had all the regular PMS symptoms around the time my AF should have been due had I not been newly pregnant, only they gradually all became worse and I thought I was in for one heck of a month with it, too! But the pregnancy went ahead no worries.
