Topic: If you do a pregnancy test and Posted: 28 January 2008 at 1:00pm |
the negative line is very very dull would you say that its a faulty test or not enough urine?
Or its just ment to be like that?
It was a Clear Blue one and Ive never had the negative line come up as dull as it has today.
Man Im hopeless I test FAR to much!!!

A negative line? I've never heard of this - do you mean the control line?
I would say if there wasn't enough urine, then no line would have come up at all so if there is one all s/be OK.

That's the control line.
Shouldn't it say in the instructions for the test? But I'd imagine that if the control line is visible it should be fine to go by that test.

Sounds like a dud test. If the control line doesn't come up strong enough then they say you need to test again.

Have a look at the info leaflet or on the box for the 0800 number and give the manufacturers a call, see what they say... if it is a dud they should reimburse or send out a replacement HPT.

Possibly if there wasn't enough urine. The control line should come up quite clearly as far as I'm aware, as it is the line that tells you the test is working properly. I would discard the result and test again with first morning pee (the strongest) and hopefully you'll get 2 lines!
But yeah, I would be very sceptical of any result if the control line wasn't strong. Probably means there wasn't enough pee or the test is a dud.

Pee into something and hold the stick in it rather than using the 'flow'. It will be more concentrated then and perhaps give you a better result.
Good luck, hun

The control line, if it was wet, should come up quite strongly. It wouldn't matter how long u peed on it as long as it was wet, the line shows the hormone that is already on the stick as opposed to in your urine. I would say the test is probably faulty, and u should get them to send u another. If you could SEE the control line, but not the positive line, then u r most likely not pregnant but if u have really dilute amounts of HCG in your urine and the control line didn't come up well, then it may not show a positive line on the test either. So personally I would test again.

BooBoo, in my humble opinion, if af is only a day late, the chances of you having enough hCG to show up on the test this early isn't that high, especially if its also not your morning pee. If it was your morning pee, you had an early tests (more sensitive then the standard), and af was a few more days late, then I'd say test baby test, but I really think your just opening yourself up to see another bfn. I was doing that a few moths ago and I just got crushed each time I saw the bfn. I've now taken my tests out of the bathroom so I can't do the spontaneous testing every time I go to pee.
Hang in there for a few more days and hope you do get a bfp.

I tested EVERYDAY! LOL!
AF was due thursday and on monday i was due to have BT but i did test anyway and it was a faint BFP. Went to work, couldn't contain myself, went home at lunch and did a expensive test that was real sensitive and you could use anytime of the day and got a BFP straight away!
BT results later that day showed HCG was 399 so should have showed up clearly on all my tests.
