Topic: EWCM - how much is too much? Posted: 15 July 2008 at 1:32pm |
I've had EWCM since CD10 (I'm now at CD17).
I've been using OPKs since CD11 to see if I was actually ovulating ridiculously early (I usually ovulate between CD16-18) - all have been negative until CD14 when it started to get that fade in you get where there is a line but it's still lighter than the control line.
Last night I got a positive OPK result
BUT... why would I get EWCM for that long?
Should I go see my GP or make an appointment with a specialist? (what type of specialist? a gnae or a fertility spec?)
Do you think being super clucky can have an effect on your CM? On CD10 I was at Chiarra's birth and as ridiculous as it sounds, as Emma was in a lot of pain, I would have given almost anything to swap places with her

EWCM is a really good sign, at least better than not having any at all. I also get EWCM really early on and even in the LP phase, it might just be the colour that differs a bit. I think/hope that it is normal.

I'm sure it is fine. The month I got pregnant I had major EWCM for 8 days. I definately get that from time to time.

Sounds like quite a long time but as Megs says it is better to have more than none at all! I wouldn't have thought there was anything wrong that would mean that you should see the dr.
Are you sure it is EWCM?
I get it for around 4-5 days in the middle of my cycle and then it changes to watery. Maybe it is difficult to tell the difference? Or could it be remnants of swimmers?

definitely NOT remnants of swimmers lol We're using protection until we start TTC
I'm 100% sure it's EWCM. It's clear and slippery and stretchy

Does sound like EWCM, but I wouldn't be too worried... would've thought having it for a longer time would be a good thing - theoretically fertile a greater time and more of a chance of sustaining swimmers for longer.
edited to try to clarify my gobble-de-gook!

I think its a good thing, the more EWCM the longer those little guys can survive (up to 5 days of course).
I dont think you need to do anything about it. Have you had a cold and taken a cough mixture of the expectorant variety? That could be the culprit.
I am also thinking I might be having a marathon EWCM cycle.. Mine started about CD7 and I dont normally ovulate until CD23-28..... Fingers crossed its the sign of early ov!

I get EWCM from about CD10 onwards, it just keeps increasing in volume until after I've ovulated.

I've read that if you have several days of EWCM it can indicate a hormonal imbalence like PCOS because your body gears up to ovulate but never quite gets there. However, if its just a one-off its probably nothing to worry about.

That's what I've been told before (about lots of EWCM mean the body is trying to O but not quite getting there). I had endo removed in March and the surgeon said my baby making bits were pristine but I have been wondering about hormonal imbalances as my O days are quite variable. I know I shouldn't use google to self diagnose but I have been reading a fair bit on Luteal Phase Defects
I did ask this on Fertility Friend too but for some reason my question has been lost in cyber space
