Hi, I am 26 weeks pregnant, and i'm again sick with a cold, which seems to happen alot to me. (just a few weeks ago I had one).
I think I've just got an unfortunate immune system.
It is a bit annoying though, I am taking a pregnancy multivitamin daily aswell.
Just wondering what supplements other pregnant women take to protect themselves, would love to know what seems to work for others/ what you guys would recommend.
Thanks

When you are pregnant your immune system is really low, which is probably why you keep getting sick.
Not much you can do about it - the flu shot is free though so you could get that.
I also take zinc tablets which help immunity.

Hope you feel better soon :)

I'm sick with a cold too and I was quite chuffed a week ago thinking that I'd managed to get through the worst of winter without catching anything!

I'm just taking it really easy...don't want to wear myself out and end up getting worse, especially when you can't just take a good old cold n flu tablet and get on with it!

As hila1 said, your immunity is much lower when pregnant and you're likely to pick up anything you come in contact with. Just keep your fluids up and rest lots!

I'm onto my 3rd cold of the season now, they all seem to hang around for a long time too!
Very annoying isn't it?

I'm taking Vit C 1000mg x2 daily and having active manuka honey as well.

In addition to vits etc, make sure that your hand hygiene is really good as it's a really good way of getting infections in the first place (as is being around people coughing and sneezing). However, people often underestimate how much they pick up on their hands.
