QuoteReplyTopic: Carseat help! Posted: 26 December 2014 at 4:06pm
I have a 2 month old little girl who hates her car seat!! Every time we've taken her in the car, no matter how long the journey she screams the whole time! I know this is "unique" as most babies are settled by the car. I do think it may be the car seat rather than the car however as we haven't had much luck with her in her stroller or any where else that requires her to sit in that reclined position. I'm not sure whether this is a sign of some sort of problem or whether she just wants to be held? (she does suffer from reflux which I think could add to the problem but her reaction to the car seat is so extreme I worry it could be something more).
Has anyone else dealt with the same? Any thoughts/advice would be really appreciated!
Not that unique, my DD hates her carseat. Shes now 8 months old and will get in it now without crying but if she is tired, or already upset she will scream blue murder. She will usually calm down within about 10 minutes but is not one to be soothed by the car. She will nap on long trips but resists as long as possible.
She also does not sleep in her stroller. No amount of rocking, bumps or what ever will get her to sleep in her stroller.
DD born 22 April 2014. No 2: BFP 10 September due 23 May 2016 My Ovulation Chart
My little one doesn't calm down however and it doesn't seem to be motivated by mood. She will cry until we pick her up. Did you do anything with yours to help or just wait it out?
It could be the bright flashing movement of the sky/buildings etc going past the car window that she doesn't like? Have you tried muslin or similar cloth (use clippy pegs and leave vent holes at each side) overtop of her capsule. what's the padding like is it very comfy? some capsules the padding is nothing but the fabric. If you have hired from PLunket you could go back and try a different model.
I would try taking her to a chiropractor or osteo, she may have something a little out of alignment which is causing her pain when in the carseat. There are lots of good chiros and osteos around these days who treat babies :)
